Mine stick their fingers in and all sorts of monstrous activity.

I should try that on these days where it’s hot and she’s sleeping just in the sleep sack, no onesie. Would still need to wipe her down good but it would allow for some slightly messier options.

This muffin recipe but as mini muffins! I’ll use any fruit instead of blueberries (carrots, apples, rhubarb, strawberries), usually do less sweeteners or sub apple sauce. They freeze well and can be eaten cold or heated up. Makes a little bit of a mess as it crumbles on the floor but the baby stays pretty clean!

I made 1-2 batches of mini muffins every week and they are what keeps my family alive. Bonus the toddler loves to help cook! He loves the mixer, and helping scoop into pans.

These are what we did as mini muffins for years when Latte was tiny. Freeze and thaw well.

Less of a question, more of a request. Let’s all make a pact to not get walking pneumonia this winter

It might not. My canines came in over top of my baby canines and they seemed happy to double decker for a while. I forget if a dentist needed to help. The roots of the baby teeth were very small, though. It’s worth asking about at the next dentist appointment if it’s but too far off, or maybe sending in the picture ahead of time since I know those are difficult appointments for your family.

One of my kids had this and the dentist said it was fine. Dentist said this isn’t rare and usually on the bottom the adult teeth will move into position on their own. Dentist said if baby teeth didn’t come out after a while they would pull the baby teeth. In our case the baby teeth did fall out and his tongue pushed the adult teeth into the correct position.

Has anyone gotten the go ahead to do solids before 6 months? A friend of mine heard this from her ped. Her ped seems questionable to me in other ways, like said she could try sleep training at month 3?? And they had to push for an acid reflux diagnosis and meds when baby was clearly in pain. I’m a little worried but also not a doctor obviously

ETA the baby is 4 mo as of the 29th

Not a doctor or your doctor, but I think the guidance is if they can sit up well, hold their head steady, etc. they are ok to start as early as 4 months.

If a baby in my lap with good neck & body control tried to steal my food, I let them eat it. I think 5ish months was when ours did that?

Dang, that just seems so early!!! Especially for a baby with other feeding issues

He’s also reverse cycling lol :grimacing::melting_face:

Sounds so early to be inviting that kind of mess into our lives, right? I think that early on it’s just about learning. IIRC milk is still the primary source of nutrients before age 1.

Oh yeah totally. I guess it seemed like they have enough going on but! Again not a doc!

The recommended age is still 6 months so if they have a lot on their plates and they’re not excited about it, seems odd that their doc would be pushing hard for that.

Dredging up all these details reminds me of how freaking exhausting newborns are.

Good job all you new baby parents! You are doing amazing.

I’m still mad at their ped for letting their baby be in pain from the reflux for so long

Yeah, varies by doc! Anecdotal but in my local moms group, some doctors give the blessing to start purées at the four month appointment, mine included. They don’t need to see the signs like sitting independently if they’re not eating solid starts style hunks of food.

Neat discussion from around the world. Most cultures start somewhere between 4-7 months. Some cultures do a lil ceremony around the first food. I’d guess that with more elders around, a licensed doctors blessing is less common.

We were encouraged at 4 months but just cereal in the evening and a much much slower scaling up than the regular schedule. Other targets were there, but the grabbing at spoons was less than with B2 who started solids later.

Some babies also care more about food though. Like both of mine would have just stolen food but some babies are like nah, I have milk.
