We have Last Hunt - a similar company to Sierra and they get Reima but I haven’t seen what we need - I got one of the snowsuits end of season last year which is a win!

Shipping from the US is a bigger clusterfuck this year than normal and it’s always messy so even “good” US companies aren’t a good option for us this year. I think with a week left to school we are also screwed. Our big school shoe shopping g trip ended when B2 escaped the store and was found very happy in a fountain in shoes we then had to buy.

That’s what I was worried about with US companies :sob: I’m sorry. What a stupid fuckin world. It looks like in the barefoot groups a lot of the Canadians have been going to the European brands- there’s a lot of brands in Eastern Europe interestingly, lots of barefoot shoe culture there. BeLenka is popular but expensive. I like how almost all the budget options on Anya’s list ship from US. Dang.

Hobibear now, stalk sales when the next big batch of sales hits? :crossed_fingers:

I think that’s going to be the plan. Our little one still wears water shoes as his indoor school shoes which is fantastic until bullying starts

I bought a pair of hobibears for the wiggler and he promptly lost one. He has been wearing normal sneakers my mom got for him. He seemed to like them before he lost the one, though.

I have them for eldest for school! They seem to be great especially for the price. She hasn’t worn them regularly yet though because she destroys shoes in the summer and I wanted her to have not ruined shoes for school.

So what I hear is one good/one bad!

Thanks @gardeningandgreen I hope they hold up. We are rich in a rich country and school shoes/needing 2 pairs makes me much more clear on shoe poverty

I’m not a barefoot shoe purist but we look for flexible soles and wide toe boxes, and counter it with literal barefoot time whenever possible.

I saw they make Merrell Trail Gloves for big kids, around $35 US on sale. They look similar to the Merrell Bare Steps sneakers for toddlers that work well for us. We did try the knitted Reimas on sale but both my kid and I didn’t like the snugness of the knit construction around our toes.

Your best baby breakfast recipes that aren’t insanely messy?

I don’t have time to clean Chickadee up after a messy breakfast on weekdays, but would really like her to have good options that aren’t Cheerios, nut butter puffs, or plain toast. She doesn’t like Stuff On Toast and so far is very skeptical of eggs.

I’m planning to make some whole wheat no-sugar baby pancakes that I can freeze and reheat quickly. Any other good options that I’m missing?

ETA: she’s messy af with fruit. tbh this girl manages to make even a plain tortilla messy – she’s talented.

Pouches :stuck_out_tongue:

You can make little oat balls with nut butter?

How’s your outdoor dining situation? That saved us a lot of cleanup. I’ve also seen (but not tried) sleeved bibs.

Breakfast doesn’t have to be breakfast food. Smoked salmon, peanut butter-filled pretzels, cheese, granola clusters could all be options? Oh, and dried or freeze dried fruit like cranberries or mango.

Peak mess was around 15 months for us, I think.

My time to shine! I do rely heavily on stuff on toast so I am less helpful there.

  • Bernito will sometimes accept eggs in some forms but not others. Does she reject egg bites too? Sprouts has a no sugar added brand.
  • Frozen waffles, Brezzi makes a no sugar added line.
  • I will give him a smoothie pouch if we’re on a tight timeline and he has a bad attitude, so I keep them on hand for emergencies.
  • Non breakfast foods for breakfast: I like leftovers for breakfast and apparently my kid got that gene too. Even before he was as verbal as he is now, he’d point to rice, etc in the fridge.

I wish I could send Louie over to help! He is really pulling his weight in that arena

We often do just rinsed pinto beans for breakfast but idk if chickadee is old enough to eat beans not mashed. And they can become messy depending on kiddos predilections for mushing things.

Batch cooking berry muffins, protein heavy waffles, egg cups, and fritters have served us well! And of course the champion fall back of canned black beans and Costco guak pods.

Okay I don’t get kids who aren’t messy with pouches :sob: my kids are CHAOS GOBLINS with pouches.

If I incite a little fomo about abandoned pouches being eaten by your sibling, they get slurped down in one shot.
