That dress is gooooorgeous.
And it feels like PJs! I think it was like $12 on Amazon. I have a bunch of cotton maxi dresses like this, I call them my house dresses.
oooooh I love the color and fit of that dress! Where did you get it?
I love gushing about this place! You can either order one of their sizes OR you can enter your exact measurements. It’s amazing and not that expensive considering, I think this model was like $40 including it being made to my exact measurements.
You can also choose the length, neckline, and sleeve type, so if you see a dress you like but you wish it were a mini or a maxi or had different sleeves, they’ll do it! They will also move zippers, so if you prefer a side zipper I think it’s an extra $5 or something? I can’t say enough good things about them!!!*
*I should include the caveat that I don’t currently know how to sew very well. Maybe people who sew really well wouldn’t think it’s a good deal? But I can say it’s way cheaper than buying clothes and then having them tailored, which is my only other option most of the time.
Oooooh this is so good to hear from someone who has personal experience with eShakti! I’ve been curious about them but hadn’t tried them yet (like “what’s the catch” haha). I have a super long torso and short legs, so something a little more customized would be ideal. Thanks!!
I was the same way and then I took the gamble. 100% worth it – you might want to stick to their cotton dresses (you can search by fabric) though because some of their blends are a little wrinkle-prone. Unless you like to iron, like me, lol.
Good to know re cotton!
I mean, no, but I have pretty low standards for wrinkles, so
I’m not sure my kids even know what an iron is…
Many years ago, my sister came to stay with me during her summer break from university. She had internship interviews, so I lent her my iron and ironing board to de-wrinkle her clothes. She’d apparently never ironed before. She was sort of waving the iron over the clothes, lightly touching the fabric, and wondering why the wrinkles weren’t coming out. I asked her if she knew a synonym for “ironing” and she looked at me blankly. “Pressing,” I said. “Which is what you need to be doing with the iron on the clothes for it to be effective.”
That’s hilarious! And a reminder to me to teach my kids how to iron, just in case. They already know the “throw it in the dryer with a wet washcloth” trick.
Ignore the white towel, lol, I have to put a towel around my shoulders as my hair air dries or the product can stain my top. It’s a curly thing.
Running out for a contactless pickup from my LYS so I can start a sweater KAL. Braided my hair and threw on my favorite (though wrinkled) top. Laundry has been relegated to the floor pile because who has time to fold in a quarantine??
You look so cute!
Long-hair Me recognizes and honors your struggle.
With short curly hair I give zero fucks
Thanks @meerkat !
LOL my hair drying fast was one of my favorite things about having super short hair @Illathrael but it was so much higher maintenance in other ways!
I am so glad I’ve got long hair right now. I was due to get a haircut right when all this started and now it’s looking like it will be another month before I can get out to a hair stylist. Not a big deal, I can manage having another inch or 2 on length without any major impacts.
My husband, on the other hand, is starting to look distinctly unkempt. We might have to attempt me cutting his hair if shelter in place goes on too much longer.
Curly hair solidarity. My hair takes 3.5-4 hours to dry. I hate the dripping wet hair on nice clothes thing…but I can’t even diffuse my hair a little bit without it getting frizzy so it is what it is! I used to plop my hair in a T-shirt to stop the dripping but found my hair dried kinda flat that way…so I continue to soak my clothing while my hair dries for 4 hours haha
@Marcela My husband just learned to cut his own hair like 2 months ago! Such good timing, but I do the back for him. I find my long hair to be lower maintenance on the whole (compared to when I had it really short), like I never get it cut professionally now (just trim the ends like once a year), I don’t have to do a particular style for it to look ok, and I don’t have to wash it nearly as much because if I sleep on it funny I can always put it up. I also love the variety, I think some people can do variety with short hair too, but I never quite got the hang of it. Long it’s just like, bobby pin some things, now it’s an updo!
But like you said @mountainmustache29 it does take a long ass time to dry. Heat destroys my curls also, even if I use a diffuser! The only other definite maintenance with my long hair vs my short hair is the amount of leave in conditioner I go through, lol. I buy it in salon sizes, but like, it’s just for me.
