Managed to drag myself out of bed early enough to get a short walk in before work. I keep needing to dial my routines in better (i.e. not get sucked into phone).
Very pretty sucker hole on my walk today. So far, 5/5 for getting the Smidgelette out for at least 24 min a day.
Sucker hole? I have never heard this term, but assume it’s the small break in the clouds.
Haha yes! When it’s raining and you get a little sunshine hole and it suckers you into going outside and then you get rained on maybe it’s a PNWerner term!
Hey! It looks like it’s clearing up!
Sucker.
I need to join this. I have not been walking much since daylight savings time ended - it suddenly being dark after work plus buying house and moving and then holidays really derailed me.
TC: the new house, while still in a fairly walkable neighborhood, is juuuuuuust far enough from the main strip of shopping needs (2 grocery stores, CVS, Walgreens, Petco. my bank all in close proximity) to make it not really do-able over lunch on workdays. We’re also farther away from the park. We’re definitely driving more now. I don’t like it but it is what it is.
Carnival starts tomorrow though! I’m walking in 3 parades so right there I’ll be getting steps in. Tomorrow is the first parade of the season! One guaranteed way for me to get steps in is to go to the French Quarter; we always take public transport there and then wander around on foot. That is the plan for tomorrow.
Today it’s storming so probably no walk. Blargh.
Ahhhh, sort of like when you look outside in winter in Chicago and the sky is absolutely GORGEOUS and this crystalline blue with improbably bright sun… and then you step outside and it’s like -20 F before the windchill
Wow - so early.
Today was my day to “run” (like 20 minutes of 2 minutes walk, 2 minutes run) with BB, my 12yo son. I spent a loooot of time going over the same ground in the park near my house. But I still rode my ebike to work- and lately I have been taking it on the bike path that goes by the creek instead of just on the road, even though it’s hard to get up on the bike path*- and also took my “lunch walk” in the park by work.
*There used to be a curb cutout but they replaced it with a regular curb. Nearby is a more slanted curb that I can get over if I gun the throttle a little. I complained to the city and they said they did it on purpose to keep motor vehicles off the path- even though it means that bikers have to dismount?!? I call it the “Curb of Contention.”
It always starts Jan 6. It is a short season this year though - Mardi Gras day is 2/13!
TIL.
Easter is 3/31.
Today I walked 3 miles while working, plus yoga and my kettlebell squats for my team kb challenge. I’m tired.
Ah yes, motor vehicles like wheelchairs.
There are ways to address issues with cars that do not remove accessibility. Uggugubkkbbk. Good on you for bringing it up to them.
Today is a low key walk day for me: Quick 30 minute walk this morning, walk to the gym two blocks away, walk to BURRITOS a few blocks in the other direction.
Here for walking club! I have a dog who needs a minimum of 30 minutes of walking per day, and is an unpleasant roommate without it. Since the baby arrived, he won’t walk for longer than 5 minutes unless 2 or more adults are with him (it’s fine if one of the adults is a friend or extended family member). That means we do lots of walks the four of us: both moms, the baby, and Louie.
Yesterday was on the shorter side: I think Louie wasn’t feeling well, and wasn’t very motivated.
Another post grocery shop walk. Early this time as the supermarket has ‘quiet hour’ with low lights and no music between nine and ten and I greatly prefer it that way.
Those are glorious pictures.
Gosh the glassy water is dreamy.
You poor, poor dear having to put up with that awful view all the time.
It’s really tough but we cope
(let’s be honest here, it’s the west coast of Scotland - days like this are not that common!)
