It’s so young. Glad he left behind all of this wonderful art for us.
All my country buds enjoying the new Miranda Lambert? I think I need to start a sinking fund for that Vegas show…
Standout tracks: Waxahatchie, Geraldene (both reimagined from the Marfa Tapes EP), Music City Queens (ft. the B-52’s!!!), Country Money (hilarious, smart lyrics). But a different one is in my head every morning. Excellent soundtrack to deep cleaning your parents’ new house!
Welp I’m gonna go listen to that now. Thanks.
It’s a grower! I like it more every time.
Country Money is
It’s so smart!! That Vegas show…I need to go haha
Learned about this one in a newsletter!
“The brilliant music supervisor Randall Poster-if you love Wes Anderson soundtracks you have Poster to thank–developed an extraordinary birdsong project benefitting the Audubon Society. “For the Birds” is a 242-track collection of original songs and readings inspired by or incorporating birdsongs. Dan Deacon, Elvis Costello, Laurie Anderson, Alice Coltrane, and Yoko Ono are some of the many musical minds contributing.”
New Kehlani album is a return to form. Stripped down R&B with a good beat and lots of vocal hooks.
This play list slaps so hard*. A mix of Afrobeat, Afropop, Middle Eastern party music for lack of a better term, indie, and a little R&B. Perfect for listening to when you’re cooking and also want to be dancing.
*does Gen Z still say this? Do we (Millennials trying to be cool) still say this?
This millennial does! Probably even in this thread lol
There’s a video, too! And she’s touring in the fall, but in Europe. Yay for Europeans, I guess.
I love it! She played it at Coachella so it’s not unknown but I like the studio version a lot. You can hear those rough guitars more. I like that rocky contrast with the poppy beat and melody. And I love it when she sings high. I declare it a bop.
I also loved the high stuff. Would we consider it falsetto or not really? Love the part of the vid where the wig comes off. She really rocks that short hair.
I don’t know; it seems I usually hear falsetto only applied to men’s voices. So I googled: Head Voice vs. Falsetto: The Truth Revealed! - Ramsey Voice Studio
My new answer is falsetto, based on the breathiness.
She sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow at her Harvard graduation this weekend. I know that because my daughter bullied me into downloading TikTok so of course I follow her there.
Off to tiktok!!!
