GIRL, same. I didn’t believe his explanation at all. He had such guilty body language and he really didn’t explain well what happened. Something was way off about that.
Y’ALL. You need to jump on Brazil. It’s the sartorial opposite of Japan and way more fun than the American one because it’s just as superficial (as American) but way more sexual and emotionally charged. Also the way some of the women read the men is so on point and direct. I love it.
Should I finish Japan first? Or jump into Brazil? I’ve only watched 1 episode. These take me so much longer to get through since I can’t have it on in the background.
I’m somewhere after meeting the parents. Kyle is still the most annoying one to me. Natalie is getting a lot more annoying to me as the show progresses; never expected her and Shayne to be the Barrett and Amber of Season 2! And Shaina is openly going after Shayne??? And Nick is so scared that Danielle and her friends are going to destroy his pristine apartment while drunk and partying!!
I thought Salvador seemed very genuine in the first couple of episodes, but yeah, something seems a little off. And he so does not do it for me. None of these guys do.
I have no idea who’s going to say yes at the alter, pretty sure Jarrette and Iyanna will though. And probably Shake and Deepti. His mom was like “you gotta get over your thinking with your dick”. The parent meetings feel so scripted, but of course people would temper their behavior on camera (like not screaming “are you fucking insane, you just met and you’re getting married in TWO WEEKS?!?!?”)
I’m worried for Shake and Deepti. I think she is going to get really hurt. And even his mom said he way overestimated himself! I think he is so set on women who look a very specific way, super petite mostly. When he talks about Deepti it always sounds like he’s trying to logic his way into liking her. Like the language he uses is always once removed.
E.g.
Instead of saying, “I can’t wait to be with her forever” he’ll say, “she has the traits I would want in someone I’d be with forever”.
I like Jarrette and Iyanna together! I hope she can get over him almost picking someone else. I also worry about him not being realistic about family life and how his lifestyle will have to change. If they fall apart I bet that will be why.
None of the guys do it for me either. I think Shake is the most attractive but his personality kills it for me. Sal is good looking too but I can’t get over that something feels off about him.
I agree, they are less objectionable in general. At the same time a lot of the women have traits that explain why they haven’t been able to find someone. Like I’m not totally mystified as to why they are single, if that makes sense. But they’re more likable.
I like him ok! He might pull it off, but I think he needs to work on patience and rigidity and listening. I worry his rigidity will stop him from evolving. I also think he is the type to “decide” a problem is solved, because in his opinion he feels it is solved, even if his partner is telling him it’s not solved for her. That worries me because his match is very emotional and sensitive (like me, lol). That could cause a lot of clashing. And she needs to work on her issues individually, because no one can erase past experiences, you have to move past that stuff on your own. She seems to pick at things when everything is going well too…what’s that about?
Danielle’s mom is SO much lol. But I like her. Hahaha her family is so open about sex. Nick is like, “I was raised Catholic…” hahhaa
Omg Shayne. “We can’t just buy a house and put money into a 401k.” WHAT? They are still chugging along tho…
Mallory with Sal - her body language with Sal is all wrong.
Oh noooo Danielle is self-sabotaging again. Lord. These people. SO EMOTIONAL.
Wow Kyle. She doesnt want you dude. Also it is so creepy when Shaina says she wants a man to spiritually lead her. Ugh and Kyle is disrespectful til the end.
Ok wow Nick is being gross about Shayne and Natalie.
Oh wow Shaina is a SNAKE. GROSS. Woooooow. I hope that Shayne sees through that. Poor Natalie.
It’s not explicitly laid out in the show, but I think there’s some internal racism issues going on with Shake. He says he thinks of Deepti as an aunt or sister, and I’m wondering if in his brain patterns he thinks of white women as love interests and brown women as family.
(this is coming from me, an (east) Asian-American woman married to a white guy, so maybe I’m projecting. I do see variations of this sooo much in my community.)
Oh, that makes sense. I thought it was interesting that they had both only dated white people before, but I didn’t know if it was just coincidence (like where they lived wasn’t diverse or something). Deepti seems able to move past that though! Like she seems very attracted to him. I noticed his “aunt” comments before too but didn’t put it together the way you explained it, like that it could be an internal race issue. That makes his back and forth fighting with himself about it make a lot more sense, especially because he seemed so attracted to her initially!
The quote that stands out to me was the “then I came to America and saw two things for the first time- snow, and white girls. And they both made me feel the same way”
