It's Nice Out Here

Oh we good - high 20s very low 30s. Rather nice. (He says inside with his aircon on).

We went for a hike and pretended we were Nims doing all the summits. One summit was a (kids) ski hill. I’m in the worst shape of my life and calling in sick to yoga.

Also not sure if my kid’s boots suck or if he just is too tiny for winter

Don’t worry, under the lightweight danish winter coat he has a Merino wool body suit, a teddy bear sweater, sweatpants and a Merino wool long underwear top. Thermal kombi socks.

Went on a ski trip this past weekend. Puglet and I only spent about 30 mins outside each day. It was soooo cold . This week is not looking too good for outside activities but hopefully can manage a bundled up walk or something.

Total outside time this year = 2.25 hours

We went sliding (no skates) on the local stormwater pond. It was -10 and I was opposed to exiting the car…but I exited and I loved it! Just the three of us, magical and so fun. :lion: Managed to glide a little bit when he was holding an adult. My only fall was trying to climb the snowbank back to the car… And I love love love skating. It felt like a Canadian postcard. I’d say for my adult life, 1/2 the time I’ve lived ten km too far south for free skating to be smart. And a lot of the time without people who would want to do this kind of adventure. Now I’ve tralled 2.5 people into a future where we get to do amazing stuff like this.

Yesterday at 6F we did 30 min walk with full snowsuit. Today at 20F it was 80 min walk with coat and fleece pants. If winter was more like today all the time, I’d get out a lot more.

Took Puglet sledding for my lunch break, wfh has its perks. I got knocked on my butt by someone flying down the mountain. I’m ok and the baby seems to be fine (kicking like usual). Thanks god they didn’t hit me head on.

Total outside time 2022 = 5.5 hrs

Glad you and baby are okay!

Larva and I went back out with friends after nap and she got to go on the tiniest sledding hill and had fun. Didn’t really keep track of time, but between that and the earlier walk it probably ended up being 2 hours yesterday.

Buy Nothing toy pickup with the tot. Took 30 min to go less than 0.5 mi round trip lol. And we got rained on multiple times. But, she walked the whole way, no tripping or tears, and I’ll count that all as a win. Since this mornings attempted park trip and picnic led to a massive cold hands meltdown, this was a big step up.

We went outside during and after the blizzard! Today I wanted to take a morning walk but it was 0 degrees…trying again tomorrow

Today it was not nice outside. Other than a bit of time on the sprinkler trampoline it was an inside day.

A morning run was a mistake. Hello heat stroke my old friend.

We are watching playschool already and it’s 9:30am

The one year old is usually keen for outside time no matter what but even he did a u-turn back for the air conditioning after making a break for the garden when I went to pick beans.

I don’t think we are going outside today. I think that is ok.

I doubled down and mowed. It needed to be done rain coming. It really got away from me. The edges can wait.

A play, in parts:
“Picnic! Outside! Picnit!”
“Okay, it’s too close to dinner. But we can go to the park and play I spy”
“Ispaaaaaa YEAH!”
“Do you want your blue jacket or black?”
“Dis!” gestures to very thin jacket currently being worn
“Are you sure? It’s very cold and windy. I think you need a jacket”
(Toddler “negotiating” ensues. Including but not limited to getting a jacket for her lovey, but refusing to wear one herself. I take this as a win because at least the jacket can come with us, and head on out)
Outside
“WINDY! Windy!”
“Yes, it’s windy and cold. Would you like your jacket now?”
“Nooooooooo. We go home! I go home! Mama, (doggie), (latte), coral, go home!”
“If you wear your jacket we can stay out and play I spy”
NOOOOOOO.

And this is how we had a sub 4 min outdoor adventure :upside_down_face: at least the dog peed.

I took the baby outside while it’s pleasant before the sun gets up, and the kiddo followed us out because there’s birds and flowers and a water tap he can use by himself to make mud pies. He’s describing the ingredients as he measures them as though he’s actually baking. I predict we’re doing some kitchen baking soon, with me being helper instead of lead chef.

i love that you bake together!

It is 22 degrees out! But I did go out. We both had a fun time looking at animal prints in the snow and noticing that the birds favored a certain tree because it gave them food. We talked about icicle formation. And we ended the trip by stopping over at Rodeos house!

This all took a whopping… 15 mins. LOL. Oh well.

It’s gorgeous today. Sunny, over 50F. Kids at the park. Latte spent over 2 hours outside then crashed- we had to wake her up after almost 3 hours of napping! We’ll see if we get more outside time this evening.

I was able to sweep out the garage a bunch, too.
