Yesterday was deadlift day. So, you know, the best day of the week!
Deads
135 x 5
225 x 5
315 x 5
405 x 3
485 x 2
530 x 7 - wanted 8, my legs and back could have done 8 or 9, but my pec started cramping. since i was already at 7, i called it good for the day
Rack pull - right at the kneecap. Should this be below the knee? Didn’t think about it until after the second set
405 x 5
495 x 8/8/8
1 arm DB row
100 x 5
130 x 15/15/12 - these were hard, but mostly because of the right elbow, forearm. Near the ulnar nerve, the muscles that flex when i make a fist, particularly the ring and pinkie finger, hurt like hell
Shrug w/ pause ss band pull-apart
225 x 4 x 12
red band x 4 x 25 - first set was uncomfortable on the elbow, but adjusted my grip and it wasn’t bad.
We are slowly getting our weight room set up and every time I “lift” I pretend I look as badass as you do. It’s very motivating, so thanks for that!
(Current weights: cans of diced tomatoes we’re still on the hunt for a bench and all that so I’m only really doing arms during spin classes and the tomatoes still kill me!)
Ha! I’m glad I can be of service. Seriously, enough reps with a can of tomatoes and it can get pretty tough.
I remember when I got kicked out of Gold’s gym because I deadlifted (on their deadlift platform) but had no money yet. I made weights out of 5 gallon buckets and concrete. It’s all fun and games until the metal wire handles snap!
When I was living in Paris I didn’t want to pay for a gym but still wanted to keep my strength up so I would do things like squatting with my giant suitcase packed with stuff and skull crushers with my purse loaded with some full metal water bottles. It was kind of fun getting creative, but I was very glad to get back to my beloved squat rack and free weights when I got home. Didn’t hurt that H’s grad school gym that we used was sweeeeeet.
I’m looking forward to getting a bar again and having the small more isolated work during spin class and then bigger lifts before/after. Spin and olympic lifts just make me feel so powerful
I didn’t want to run/walk this morning because it was cold and I was tired. However, I took a little bit of time during the afternoon to go for a short walk/run and I feel much better.
I am at the stage of typical hand weight exercises with empty hands, I am looking forward to getting strong enough for tomato tins! I feel like maybe there’s a grocery themed workout song parody in here somewhere…
Really nice actually! It’s mellowed into a refreshing but not painful cold here, and loads of people have advent window displays up which I had fun finding
AWWWW. I need to run in some different directions, maybe see some new decorations. I have definitely started to gross my neighbors out with my run spitting. I’m a big spitter when I run. It’s so offensive.
Just got off the bike, couldn’t finish the workout but have to respect my limitations. Tweaked my back in my same trouble spot over the weekend and was worried it would be really bad, but it’s almost like listening to H, doing my PT and a little sodium naproxen actually work.
Going to push my luck with a walk with Bobbin later too. I need to get outside while it’s not raining (yesterday) or snowing (tomorrow)
ETA: me and the cans did absolutely crush the arm section. I usually need to take breaks but I was able to do the whole thing and I feel like an incredible badass
Convinced myself to do a live workout this morning and I was not disappointed. The playlist included a remix of sexual healing and it was just right, the tomatoes and I had a 7am groove
I’ve been feeling really dunwanna in the mornings this week, because chilly and dark and waaaah, and so I haven’t wanted to go for walk/runs so much in the mornings. So, I’ve been starting work a little early and taking mid-day walk/run time instead and it turns out that not fighting your body on this shit is so much better than fighting your body. Who knew?!
I am also just learning this. Changing up my routine to make it so that I’m doing things when I actually want to rather than forcing myself is so much easier and better for me
Today I did my daily run “with” @beep_boop in the morning before work.
It is certainly colder at that hour, but there is something peaceful about the neighborhood before everyone is awake.
