How Did You Move Today?

Yesterday was two moderate walks, my PT, and a really good shoulder sequence that made my body feel soooo much better. I may start doing that sequence daily.

Yesterday was a quick yoga session that turned into yoga with Bobbin who would not be ignored. Then we took a long training walk with B which was slow and frustrating but he did seem to get something out of it by the end, even if he was so rotten the rest of the night.

Today I did lower back yoga which was really restorative. Planning on another afternoon training walk since it is sunny and should be at least in the 50ā€™s. Hoping the pup is more cooperative so that it is actually a walk and not a ā€˜stop every 5 feet then get frustrated and cut it shortā€™ type deal.

Iā€™m also feeling some squats so I might see if Bobbin is amenable to being my extra weight. Sometimes she giggles like a maniac and other times she hates it.

In general I am noticing that I have been feeling a lot stronger and more stable, especially in my back and core which has been very welcome.

Round trip to see a Tuesday afternoon movie, meant a 4 km walk each way according to Google.

I have quibbles, but Birds of Prey/Emancipation of Harley Quinn had a number of very fun parts.

In the last week since I last commented here, I have gone for at least a half hour walk every evening. Iā€™m definitely feeling more unfit than I used to so Iā€™m going to book into a 6 week prenatal yoga class for mid March and look into doing some slow pilates at the pilates studio around the corner with an introductory offer.

Yesterday I did an elliptical session, PT, and a nice walk in the evening. I did not do my shoulder stretches because I ended up hanging out with a friend instead.

Iā€™m tired and cold this morning. Someone remind me that walking the dog will wake me up and warm me upā€¦

Well I can be a counterpoint that crawling back into bed with the dog and my phone does not help my stiff back and cold muscles

Another counter point, Iā€™ve walked B twice today because the little rotten thing wouldnā€™t poo this morning and Iā€™m still cold.

But I came in and put on obnoxious fuzzy socks and 2 blankets and itā€™s better

I walked the dog and am now looser and warmer. In fact, house now feels too warm!

I am still a bit jetlagged, so I woke up at 330am :frowning: But I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the treadmill (incline at 14, but walking slow) and then did a 15 minute yoga following along to a video on my phone.

Yesterday I did some Yoga and Pilates

Iā€™m trying out a 21 Day Pilates Challenge. Last night was my first ever time doing pilates and I really enjoyed it. I am also loving the Boho Beautiful channel on youtube. Her videos are all nice and short (~15 mins) so I can usually find the time to get one in as long as I donā€™t come up with too many excuses :stuck_out_tongue:

Skipped yoga yesterday which was a mistake. I was feeling so creaky and achy after a day of picking up and putting down a teething baby who couldnā€™t decide when she did or did not want to be snuggled. So maybe bonus arm workout? Iā€™m reaching hereā€¦(pun intended!)

Today I found a heart & hip opener practice which was great because my hip flexors have been bothering me. Might see if H can stick me with one of his extra long needles after work today and fix whatever is not right in there so I can sleep tonight.

My hips always need work, though I donā€™t know if Iā€™d resort to getting stabbed by a long needle :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Donā€™t knock it til you try it. Dry needling done well will make your coffee taste better, music sound sweeter, and all kinds of other things.

Or maybe Iā€™ve just had really bad neck painā€¦

Either way, itā€™s awesome!

I have really bad neck pain, tell me about this dry needling? Is it different from acupuncture? Because I had that a few days ago and it did jack shit (yes, I know 1 appointment is not sufficient but I was hoping for at least something).

I forced myself to pomsquad class last night for the first time in a few weeks due to vacation. Didnā€™t die. Was mindful of neck and it wasnā€™t awful. Every time I go to class there is some body part that I need to be mindful of or otherwise favor; last time it was my fucked knee that was acting up. Is this aging, an endless parade of ā€œhmmmm, what hurts today?ā€ :stuck_out_tongue:

Dry needling and acupuncture are different but have similar foundations. Acupuncture is not usually to treat trigger points (kinda like knots in the muscles) but sometimes the acupuncturist might hit one and youā€™ll feel the tweak. They use very similar needles and the feeling is much the same. I find that it doesnā€™t hurt unless Iā€™ve got a particularly nasty trigger point, but even then once the point is released it is amazing relief. Also I donā€™t do this so I might be butchering the descriptions, but H likes to say that there are a lot of similarities between the two but the goals/outcomes are different.

I canā€™t remember if youā€™re US but here you get a special training to do it, so people like MDs, PTs, PAs, NPs can all be trained to do dry needling. H is a PT and he does it with patients when theyā€™ve got trigger points exacerbating things. I was his pincushion while he learned so heā€™s done it to me for learning purposes and when I had trouble spots.

Sharesies? My hip flexors are a joke.

Last night I had a really good elliptical workout ā€“ that kind of workout where afterwards youā€™re just kinda floating. Like, you know you used up a bunch of energy working out because you do feel the tired in there, but the energy actually just got replaced by a bunch of endorphins, so you smile and go to bed an hour early and itā€™s all delightful.

Today feeling like my lungs are tired. Did a much gentler elliptical workout, possibly shouldnā€™t have; itā€™s a bit hard to get a full breath in.

Ummm Iā€™m doing this tonight now for sure.

I really should do her exercises more. I really like them whenever I do them.

Something about her style really works for me. Whenever I start being hard on myself for modifying it seems like sheā€™s always like ā€œNow wherever you are today, thatā€™s great. find what feels good.ā€ and it is always perfect timing for me to cut it out and feel better.

I also love that sheā€™s got such a large library that I knew I needed hip opening today so I went to her page and searched ā€œhipā€ and immediately found this and several others. I usually do her calendars or 30 day sequences but having the whole catalog in my back pocket for days when I have specific needs is great.
