I went for a run even though I had a long list of excuses for not going. It snowed here a few days ago and the main streets are plowed and mostly dry, except for some black ice along the sides or in low places. I managed to not slip on any of the ice (I go around if possible, or walk slowly across the icy spots if it covers the whole road). It feels good to move after sitting at my desk all day and spending most of last week hibernating due to a cold.
Last two days my moving has been walking to the shops and back for ingredients (about 30 mins round trip?) plus I went a bit further yesterday to drop off some packing supplies to a small local business. Still looking for a good, local yoga place.
Two days in a row I did yoga! Both were about 20 mins long and focused a lot on the hips which is my favorite because my hips are super tights. I have a goal of someday doing a split so I am planning to do some form of stretching/yoga everyday. 20 mins should be “easy” enough to fit in.
Yesterday I also used my stand up desk, I stood for 10 mins every hour. Most days I don’t even think to use it but I have set up timers to help me remember.
Brutal deadlift day, but got it done.
Deads
135 x 5/5
225 x 5
315 x 3
405 x 3
505 x 5 - not bad up through here. Kinda heavy, but moved fine
555 x 1 - wanted 3, but was mostly dead after rep one
555 x 3 - let myself get a little hyped before the lift, went fine
585 x 1 - ugly lift, but it went
Split squat
60 x 10/10
Band Leg Curl
20/20/20
Hanging Knee Raise
12/12/12
Due to errands taking 4x longer than anticipated I did not get my yoga in this morning. But I did get an hour of walking/bouncing a ~20lb bobbin in the baby carrier at the pharmacy while they sorted out my rx nonsense. That counts, right?
Yesterday was yoga. I’ve been going to the same class on Tuesday mornings for nearly two years, and I look forward to it every week. I wish it was available/I could go more often.
Today I went swimming again. (2nd time this year) I forgot to look at the time when I finished, but I did track the distance. I swam 25% farther than last time. Now I will eat all the pasta and maybe take a nap.
Yesterday was elliptical + PT at the gym and two short-ish walks at night.
Heel is a bit sore today. I suspect that this is related to yesterday’s stress levels.
20 minutes of yoga this morning. Starting to deviate from instructions in videos, but not confident enough yet to practice with zero guidance. Posture has improved while walking, driving, and sitting in office. Massage therapist remarked last session that back/shoulders/neck much improved.
I love noticing progress in those every day kind of areas, it always makes me feel great
So do I! It’s relevant progress for sure, and very, very much needed.
I scrubbed the shower
That’s a freaking workout!
I’m always sweating by the time I’m finished that
Swimming lessons last night and I am so freaking sore today. Cute femme swim instructor tried to teach me the arm and leg motions separately for the front crawl (legs, why TF won’t you cooperate??) and then tried to get me to combine them by the end of the lesson and I failed horribly.
On the upside, my foot did not flare up and I got a really good workout in, which was mostly the whole point of my taking up swimming. That, and not drowning.
Sounds like wins all around!
Yes! Now I just have to find a place to practice in the evenings in between lessons. Open swim where I’m going now is either during my work hours or Friday evenings, which is when I have lessons.
I had an amazing three hour long walk along the coast with my bestie yesterday and it was rejuvenating and refreshing and we talked about so much stuff and everything smelt like salty kelp, which is the best smell.
Today Wizard and I went for a walk and I did 30 minutes of rowing at the gym and did my PT.
Feeling muscle tired is one of my absolute favorite feelings.
Yesterday I ran just shy of 3 miles and then Mr Pug, Puglet, and Lila (our dog) went for a 30 min walk since it wasn’t freezing cold out. I also did a good amount of stretching before and after running.
I walked from the downtown stop to my work (about a mile/1.6k) instead of waiting for the train.
