First week update:

A lot of mine are and will be on hold until the end of the semester. Guess I should have put all the grading in the world on the list.

But I did make some progress on the chapter yesterday, and a lot of progress on the poster earlier in the week, and got my co-presenters going on things, which is even better.

Still don’t know what classes I’m teaching a month from now, so that’s great. I know some, but prep comes after finishing current ones. Cookies (loosely) scheduled for sometime next weekend, and name change paperwork depending on when the young friend gets paid because that shit’s expensive.

I wanted to ask… how do we strike through text? I think I knew at one point but forgot again.

Progress as of 12/7:

  • make progress in garage: clear a substantial amount of floor space (sub-goals: get rid of bed frame, take load of stuff to dump, clear out sunflowers, move rugs/large cloth items on treadmill, take cans to bottle drop, take out glass recycling )
  • submission spree (submit to 4 more journals)
  • get a will written even if it’s DIY
  • finish reading at least one more book (my goal was 20 for the year; I think I’m at 14 or 15 so I’m not making that)
  • call internet service provider and ask why our bill is higher/ask for lower rate again <–no luck on that; they said we are already paying the cheapest possible
  • resolve 2022 tax problem YAY
  • clear out email inbox

One thing off the list!

I spent a few hours today going through the first booklet of user IDs and passwords. Most are way out of date. Only a handful still worked. Less than that I wanted to keep!

Well I just did one day on the treadmill and didn’t even attempt the other stuff.

Absolutely zero progress.

Husband was super sick last week and now I’ve got something.

Changing the outlets is the easiest in the sense it requires the least thinking.

I gotta get the taxes done to get Ford’s bribe money. While I’m annoyed at the bribe, I still want the money.

Okay, slightly belated, but finally posting my list:

  • Set up wall calendar for 2025
  • Figure out New Years plans
  • Angel Tree gifts wrapped and dropped off
  • Senior center gifts (may just donate money this year given some very bad timing at work)
  • Gifts for sibling’s family shipped
  • Gifts for parent packed or shipped
  • Check local rescue for what cat supplies they can use (food, litter, possibly unused toys/scratchers?) and do drop off
  • Clean up cat stuff around house
  • Check on pool closure plans, if none get year pass otherwise do math
  • Go through packing list for next trip, confirm have everything or check sales (post-Christmas, so stretch)
  • Plan trip next fall (definitely stretch)

Progress:

  • Have compiled all the information (cost, docs, etc.) needed for passport application
  • Filled out the digital form for passport application
  • Ordered parts for my car

I don’t for the life of me remember what the workshop item was about. I mean, obviously what it says, but was that for school? For the local org I joined? fml

Week 1 check in:

  • go through MacBook Pro and delete duplicate photos.
  • Transfer old photos to iCloud (right now it isn’t synced to iCloud, to prevent duplication of photos there.
  • sort through all my old user IDs and passwords. Figure out what’s good and what isn’t. Close all accounts I’m no longer using…if possible. I’m having issues with flick’r. (Working on this)
  • watch the courses I’ve downloaded in the past. Great Courses.
  • write blog posts for my Ko-fi site.
  • finish reading “The Big Book of Hand Spinning”! It truly is a big book!

Spent this morning analyzing 2024 expenses and preparing a proposed budget for 2025. Now it’s back to the above list.

So I had done nothing for this challenge all week, but I didn’t want to admit defeat in the first week (…again), so today I went ZOOMING

Done:

  • Finish removing leaves in backyard
  • Finish putting steel wool in old mouse holes. I’ve only procrastinated this for, oh, 8 months :joy:
  • Measure existing backyard garden beds for planning
  • BONUS: did some caulking

Partially Done:

  • Dig up rocks and landscape fabric in at least 1 backyard garden bed

To Do:

  • Sand, prime, and paint new front porch posts (and buy remaining supplies needed). UPDATE: This will be hired out, so I just need to buy paint.
  • Get gutter installed on new front porch roof
  • Attempt to install weatherstripping on small garage door
  • Frame and hang art in my office
  • Install garage gardening tool rack
  • Actually set up the water leak detector sensor I bought ages ago
  • Finish digging up rocks and landscape fabric in front yard

I haven’t done anything yet :grimacing: except for the christmas sweater that is currently in progress. More progress on the list will be made after my last exam (sunday) and when my holiday vacation will start (dec 19th)

  • I have to modify one item on my to do list. I do not possibly have time to watch all the courses I have apparently downloaded in the past! :flushed: I am going to try and finish the one I’m watching now, and then try to watch one more before the end of December.

ETA: Finished going through the first of three password booklets!
