We’ve had cherry tomatoes coming in for a few weeks, but today our first full sized tomato was ready to harvest!
Herbs in the mint family (mints, basils), pinch off the tops to encourage branching. Leafy greens usually produce new leaf growth in the center of the plant, so picking the outer leaves is better (cut or pinch rather than pulling to avoid disturbing the roots).
Picking hella beans. Also will be eating our first two tomatoes tonight:
Promising news on the squash front:
Photo of the dirt pile?
At tallest the pile is about 6" above the usual soil level.
I’ve been trying to comprehend this all day and I’m still like wut?
Super weird.
Rabbits or other digging small animals?
Maybe? But I can’t find holes anywhere?
A garden poltergeist?
I am reminded of gopher mound. They seal tunnel entrances with a dirt plug.
Hmmm maybe it’s that then. I’ve never seen a gopher here but there’s a first time for everything.
Maybe some slight colour on the tomatoes? It could just be the afternoon light.
Also a question for tomato experts: I’m very paranoid that something is going to go wrong with my lovelies. Does this look like the beginnings of blossom end rot, or just normal immature tomatoes?
Don’t reckon so.
Nah, blossom end rot is a lot bigger. I’ve had it before, wasn’t fun, but indicated my soil wasn’t up to scratch, which made remedying it possible.
Looks normal to me too
Our first tomatoes of the season coming in. They’re “chocolate sprinkles” from starts from a friend - I love the striping.
Those are gorgeous
Oh, those are great!
