I have these at work today. Other than the lilacs I cheated by purchasing plants already in bloom. But I will take flowers any way I can get them. Mine will bloom eventually… also isn’t my new triple vase a cutie?

i really need to get some peonies in my garden, i just haven’t gotten round to it yet.

I think peonies were the first thing I bought when I got into flowers like 25 years ago. My mom always had them too. The single coral one is from a plant that I dug up when she moved last year which was her favorite and didn’t want to leave behind. I’m a little surprised that it got flowers this year after I had to really forcibly remove it because they don’t like being moved. I will have a few to give my mom this weekend, she will be thrilled.

Last year‘s Dahlia crop was miserable, I think I might have seen three flowers out of a dozen tubers.

This year I decided to forgo Dahlias, but then I ran across one in a pot so I bought it. And already it has rewarded me nicely so early in the summer.!

I keep forgetting to share my flower victories for the dumbest reason–I don’t have a good place in my house to photograph them. I don’t have any clean backgrounds and I live in a sty. Some of these are from earlier in the season, feat. overwintered snapdragons that totally surprised me. Other big successes so far are bachelors buttons and sweet peas. I went hard on those this year after not getting much in the past years. The key, I guess, was more sun–they need to be in the front yard!

how lovely! what are the pale pink ones in the 2nd photo? they almost look like they are made out of eyelet!

It’s a type of perennial phlox called “fashionably early.” It looks all white on the plant but fades to this pinky lavender.

Here is my new planter - I LOVE all the black/dark plants! It has black petunias! And the gerbers are a dark dark orange (seen blooming in the planter I didn’t get).

I took these to my mom today. I also gave her friend a cute bouquet but I forgot to get a picture. I will try to keep them both supplied all summer. Her friend was a master gardener for years so she loves flowers too and was very happy to receive some.
