Pretty sure we figured OurWhat these are i n this thread last year, but I’m too lazy now to scroll all the way back to check. Guess I could search by date, because it was probably late March last year, too, but I still think I’m too lazy.
I’m sure, though that this is Trillium. Specie is less certain, but I’ll keep an eye on it and have a better idea when it blooms out. It’s about 15 feet from the front door, so shouldn’t be hard to watch.
Ooh, I love trillium and with I had some 15 ft out my door. The pink flower looks like a type of oxalis. ETA: we did have this discussion last year (later, though, since I didn’t start the thread until April). You tasted a leaf and confirmed oxalis. Then speculated it may be O violacea.
I’ve been taking flower photos and then forgetting to upload them. Maybe today will be the day.
The trilliums are starting to bloom around here, but not in full force yet.
Ah, you’re right, Oxalis! Figured with the lead shape but did not bite it this year, or not yet anyway. So this spring is warmer since it’s earlier.
Our bromeliads are flowering.
We will eventually pull them out because the leaves are tough and serrated so don’t make for a kid friendly garden, but they are pretty when they flower.
Those are gorgeous! I love the colour. When you do pull them out, ask around Buy Nothing groups and similar - I got someone over, with their wheelbarrow, to pull our our clivias and take them to their place. No work for us!
Finally posting my flower pictures from March. First, the trees.
My plum tree (March 9):
Magnolia on my street (March 13):
Cherry tree across the street (March 24):
And some March flowers.
A daffodil hillside (March 14)
Daffodils in my yard (March 28)
A pasque flower hiding in the daffodils (March 30)
Brunnera in my yard (March 30)
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a trillium with a non-upright bloom. Very interesting.
There are a couple of species that do that, but not as many as the upright.
Speaking of which, I forgot to update the one I was waiting to open last week.
Here it is, Trillium decumbens, slightly the worse for wear after a hard rain.
Orange tulip in my yard. There is only one.
Lots of tulips in a neighbors yard.
Giant snowdrops and redbud.
Can’t quite tell what the white flower is – is that snowdrops or three cornered leek?
They are giant snowdrops
