FYI:

If you haven’t gotten the last round of free test kits (in the US), the time is now. They are suspending the program as of Friday. I just ordered mine, just in case!

This is just the USPS free test kits, right? I’m guessing/hoping free insurance-based test kits are still available.

Yeah. But, if the federal government is discontinuing, I would not put it past insurance companies to also. I don’t know though, I have not used my insurance for covid-related anything.

Thanks for the info. I had only ordered from the first round, so rounds 2 and 3 are now on their way. (Good timing, too, as I only have 1 left at home.)

I got mine a while ago. My first batch was 4 total tests so I assumed the second and third would also be for a total of 8 tests. I got 16! I shared with my sister.

AH shit. Book club member I spent 5 hours with Sunday got sick Sunday night (negative test), and tested positive this morning. It’s been like 6 months since we all (husband, Tot and I) had Covid, so we’re all gettin it for SURE.

Anecdotally, we went to a wedding that turned out to be a medium spreader event. Of the 10ish people we spent lots of time with over the course of a weekend, 7 or so got COVID afterwards, and we didn’t. We were also about 6 months out from having COVID. So I hope you guys can dodge the bullet too, it definitely happens.

These omicron variants are fast. If you don’t get symptoms or test positive by Thursday you’re probably in the clear.

Also when my dad unknowingly had covid at a family wedding in June, he only spread it to me and my wife, my uncle, and my cousin despite socializing with everyone all weekend.

Okay, you guys are giving me hope. Now I just have to figure out how TF to survive the next few days. Tot can’t wear a high quality mask, and it’s high 90s, and we’re solo for a few days. :grimacing::face_with_spiral_eyes: there goes my “unleash her upon the halls of target” plan.

Yeah if I’m reading right her texts she was expose Thursday, sick Sunday night (but negative rapid test), then her husband tested positive this morning- she’s going for a PCR later today because of work I guess.

Apparently " The study, which was conducted by scientists in Beijing, found that with every new variant, COVID’s incubation time has decreased significantly. Omicron, which is the current dominant variant in the United States, has the shortest time between infection and symptoms."

“So, say for example you had dinner with a friend on Saturday who informs you on Sunday that they just tested positive for COVID and you may have been exposed at dinner. If you were infected, chances are your symptoms will appear pretty fast, like by Tuesday or Wednesday”

Sounds like Latte gets as much backyard outdoor time as she wants, as long as she drinks lots and lots of water

The backyard is no fun this year, I can barely get her to spend ANY time out there. SirB sometimes has success but I’m like 1/10 if I can get any time, especially now that the peas have been ripped out.

We have a kiddy pool. And splash pad. And water table. And water can. And chalk. And bubbles. And a slide. And a hose.
