Yea, I’m going to new zealand next week and I better not get it (again)…new zealand ain’t cheap.
I will hold a good thought that everything goes smoothly:)).
My kids and the little boy are in Italy and have colds, and I bet there has been no Covid testing.
I am really starting to regret that decision. I am also getting worried because I was supposed to have my flight information within 12 hours and it’s now been 48 with no answer sent to my email despite my email yesterday. I will call tomorrow. My son sent me detailed information on how to get home from here in case I need it.
I tested positive on the 18th and I just took a RAT and it’s still positive?
I started going out again after 7 days since my symptoms were almost resolved and that’s what it said when I lodged my positive test (I have a persistent cough like I get every year after a cold until the weather warms back up) and I’ve been wearing a mask because I’m paranoid but am I still infectious? I’m also super exhausted but it’s school holidays and the kids have been in isolation and maybe I didn’t think this through properly before breaking our isolation
My parents came over yesterday and I told them maybe don’t come and if they do to wear masks inside to be safe but they didn’t. I did so hopefully they don’t get it from me.
I did a google and it’s all conflicting.
everyone I know was still getting positive RATs for a while after testing positive, for me it was about 10 days.
My work doesnt make us test for 12 weeks after a positive test because of the higher likelyhood of false positives.
Oh that is reassuring. I’m in day 10 now.
Mr Pancakes tested negative a couple of days ago. He has since broken out in hives over his whole body.
All of us except the 5 year old have had a really crappy time of it. I hope the effects don’t keep lingering.
I hope the effect clear up quickly
What are the guidelines in Australia? Even here in the US where they let you go back out after 5 days, you’re supposed to wear a good mask and avoid high risk people for 10. People tend to be less contagious the more days out they are, but if you’re still positive on a RAT your contagiousness is probably not zero. It’s good you wore a mask with your parents. (It’s the PCRs that can keep giving you false positives for weeks after you’ve recovered.)
Anyway, I hope you all feel better soon and can shake the lingering effects.
I was doing the 5 day isolation here, day 5- 10 with mask…but re-tested positive on day 10 due to paxlovid, and they told me to start another round. What I understand is that official guidelines here in the US is day 5-10 is just wear a mask, limit outings. Some workplaces even discourage rapids…
Kiddo’s camp had a covid positive kid last week and in their email they linked to the FL DOH’s website for exposures in a child care setting. It was basically “If your kid is symptomatic keep them home, otherwise PARTY ON MY DUDES!”
Our employer just emailed everyone this morning to say there’s no need to let anyone know if you have exposure, symptoms, or a positive test any more.
Requirements for ending isolation
On day 7 of your isolation, you must not have any of the following symptoms:
- fever
- sore throat
- runny nose
- cough that is bad or getting worse.
If you do have any of these symptoms on day 7 of your isolation, you must remain in isolation until those symptoms have gone away.
It is actually buried in there to wear a mask at all times for another 7 days but I needed to click through a bunch of links, one about how to get groceries to find it. I feel like it should be on the main page.
In any case I have been doing that.
I forgot to add that ours was after day 5 but you had to be fever-free without medication for 24 hours to leave isolation.
I read somewhere else on my states health department website that to leave we should be fever free for three days, which we all were.
It kind of seems like the directives now are designed to accept some level of spread in order to not inconvenience people too much. I am not completely convinced that I won’t spread Covid by following them
I’m going to pick up some more n95 masks today.
And…. It finally came for us. Toddler had a runny nose this week but we thought nothing of it because he has a runny nose maybe 80% of the time. Rapid tested him because we were going to see grandparents tomorrow. Very positive.
Alerted everybody we needed to alert. Toddler class closed down for the rest of the week (pretty sure we got it from daycare so I only feel a little guilty).
Tested Husband and myself as well. Husband positive, says that he’s feeling a little tired but nothing else. I’m negative, for now. I’m not going to try and quarantine or mask - our house is too small for that and Toddler too needy. Also - my head hurts and I’m kinda convinced I already have it.
Ordered Instacart delivery, more rapid tests, two boxes of Picasso Tiles, and an inflatable kiddie pool.
Husband and I are contemplating potty training in a few days while we’re still in quarantine but Toddler’s symptoms resolve. Crazy or brilliant idea?
Why not both?
I hope you all stay mild and feel well soon
Could be a fun distraction?
Good luck to your family, both with potty training and COVID. A friend of mine highly recommended the Pedialyte popsicles when she had COVID.
My only hold ups there- illness can really effect behavior. So if toddler is clingy at all, stressed by parent illness, anything like that, might not be the best time. Also, any changes to hydration or food preferences that would effect bowel stuff- you don’t want to start potty training with a consto toddler because then they think pain = potty and you get a huuuuge set back and potential withholding behavior.
So those two aside, I say go for it if they’re showing signs!
