Welp. I am now a monthly donor to a cholera nonprofit.
4 yoâs classroom now has a positive covid case. They wear masks (umâŚbut not during meals or naps) so they do not close the classroom.
I think this was already posted, but this is 100% me today.
Daughter is still going to school. Sheâs probably already been exposed. All the other kids have too. I canât take off work (if the room closes we are effedâŚ) I give up at this point.
I feel like we are very in a âif we just stopped testing it would go awayâ scenario, because the kid out has a slight runny nose, like they come to school with all the freaking time.
Except for the hospitals which are FULL and the immunocompromised who have so little protection.
We wear our masks, we limit time outside the household, but I just give up. It isnât possible to protect my children anymore.
Iâm sorry. I feel the same way, so many times a day. It sucks.
Sigh. Iâm a week into this (symptoms started for me last Tuesday PM) and my Covid test is BRIGHT.
Itâs not even done curing yet.
Husband is about to leave town for 3 days. (His symptoms resolved days ago so he meets all the CDC stuff). Latte is full energy again. Wish me luck
LB hasnât been nearly as sick as you but he threw a pretty strong positive this morning, 8 days after symptoms started. Blech.
Good luck surviving full-energy toddler⌠that is no jokeâŚ
SirBâs test versus my test. Our symptoms started at exactly the same time and exactly the same way. Obviously has resolved much more quickly. I do wonder if this is related to the studies that have found that type a blood is more likely to get Covid and has more significant cases, and type O less so. Which is what we are. (Although the lit review that I just looked at on this found that four studies have found a correlation, and five studies have not, but the ones that have found a correlation have been extremely large studies )
Weâre sparing Latte the nose pokes. No point in torturing a toddler.
A client of mine here in my small town got 4 masks at Meijer yesterday.
My rapid tests from the USPS site arrived today! I got a tracking notice the night before.
Wow!! So it works!! Thank goodness.
Same here! What a thrill.
Me too!
I was just going to ask if anyone had received them. Good to know the systemâs working. Hope to get mine soonish.
My mom got hers yesterday. I ordered mine the same day and donât even have a shipping email yet,
Posted this over on the pregnancy thread too.
Cool e-mail I got from one of the fertility studies I did.
covid vaccines and fertility, Covid and male fertility
Dear PRESTO Participant,
We are excited to share new results from the PRESTO study. Using data provided by PRESTO participants, we investigated whether COVID-19 vaccination or infection had an impact on fertility.
We found that COVID-19 vaccination in either partner had no harmful effect on fertility. We analyzed PRESTO data collected between December 2020 and November 2021. Female participants who received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine before the first day of a given menstrual cycle had a similar probability of conceiving during that cycle compared with unvaccinated participants. Similarly, vaccination of the male partner was not related to fertility. Our analyses controlled for many relevant factors, including age, socio-economic status, stress, and irregular menstrual cycles. Our findings were the same regardless of time since vaccination, type of vaccine, occupation in the healthcare industry, and other factors.
We also found that COVID-19 infection in the male partner was associated with short-term declines in fertility, lasting up to 60 days after infection. Beyond 60 days, infection history was not associated with fertility. COVID-19 infection of the female partner was unrelated to fertility.
This is the first study to examine the association of COVID-19 vaccination with fertility among couples trying to conceive through intercourse. Our study is now published in the American Journal of Epidemiology and you can access the full article here: http://doi.org/10.1093/aje/kwac011
We are currently studying COVID-19 vaccination and its possible influence on the menstrual cycle, and will update you when those results become available.

CW: death
My parents just told me that a town icon just died of COVID. When I was home for Christmas he and his wife had just COVID and thought they had recovered, but he got pneumonia after anyway.
He used to be the ambassador from Sweden to America. He and his wife live right next to the school and taught us to make bird houses in 7th grade. They were part of every single library book club, and Iâm pretty sure the international relations/politics book club was only a thing because everyone knew they would come.
Summer 2019 one of his grandkids got married and they had the wedding in their back yard, and you could hear the DJ for 5 blocks. And Iâm pretty sure they danced til 2 am.
It sucks so much that they thought they had beat it and it got him anyway. According to the paper his daughters made it to him in time to say goodbye at least.
RIP Pär
Ordered mine right when the site went live, and, also no shipping email yet.
Got my shipping notification via email yesterday or today. (What is time).
I got mine Monday this week. My mom and sister who ordered just after me havenât gotten theirs yet.
Same, still no email. I did pick up my 3 free n95 masks at the grocery store tonight though.
