Covid-19 discussion

Hmmmm. You know, Verizon activated their C-band 5G last week. Right as we got Covid :face_with_raised_eyebrow::face_with_raised_eyebrow::face_with_raised_eyebrow: coincidence?

(Sorry, I just had to)

NO. Do you EVEN KNOW what my LIFE has BEEL NIKE since the 5G thing?

Thereā€™s some trauma in those typos. Iā€™d ask if people are being especially dumb, but, well.

I ordered my tests the day they went live-- and I got the shipping email this morning and they arrived in the afternoon

Pawg says too soon, BJ :upside_down_face::joy:

I did NOT send a nasty email about spreading misinformation to my FIL, who forwards without fact checking or even reading more than the headline. My Ponder, his son, has promised to speak to him. If Iā€™m dissatisfied with the results, :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::exploding_head:

I hate Iowa.
Our DHS is encouraging daycares to let families make their own decisions about masks.

Our daycare just sent out a question to ask how people felt about masks. Unvaccinated kids should be in masks!

My boss has Covid and is working part time this week - heā€™s got three kids at home including a newborn (mom got vaccinated while pregnant) so he doesnā€™t really expect to be resting during the day anyway. We just did a Zoom call where he kept his camera off but he sounded fine.

@Bracken_Joy I told him that my nurse friend said recovery is not linear but kind of goes back and forth and he said that has definitely proven to be true.

Then I had to get in touch with someone else in another department for help with something and I asked if she could do a Zoom also so I could show her what Iā€™m talking about and she said, ā€œI can, but Iā€™ll warn you I have COVID right now so I will not have my camera on lolā€. She said she had a sore throat Wednesday so she tested before going into the office and it was positive, now her daughters have it too so she is also doing the ā€œkids underfoot, wonā€™t rest, might as well get some work doneā€.

Iā€™m so, so glad Iā€™m working from home but and I know itā€™s not logical but I kind of want to wipe down my laptop, lol. But Iā€™m also very glad that they both seemed not that bad off and were able to carry on conversations normally. I am side-eying the ā€œmight as well workā€ attitude but my boss is an acknowledged workaholic - he said ages ago that if he won the lottery he would still work and I worked very hard to have neutral face when he mentioned that instead of being ā€œHi, do you have a minute to talk about FIRE?ā€

Follow up, Ponder sent his dad to this site and he stopped following the guy.

This only works because his dad didnā€™t actually believe anything heā€™s just a serial blog-signer-upper and never reads beyond the headline. The dude apparently is telling his followers to decontaminate their airways by putting iodine in Neti pots.

So our medicine cabinet is filling up with weird ā€œCovid preventingā€ products that turn up on our front porch in the nightā€¦

Iodine mouth wash was first.
A weekā€™s supply of hay fever nasal spray came this week (actually helped with Mr Pancakesā€™s hay fever today though)ā€¦

I got my 3 free N95 masks from a local pharmacy today. Each mask is individually wrapped and the wrapper makes it clear that you need to follow the instructions on the box for how to wear it. Except that these instructions were not provided.

I will try to find the instructions online, but how many people will go to that trouble? Iā€™m grateful that free masks are finally being distributed but we could have done better.

I got a handout with mine.

In another NPR report I now canā€™t find a link to, I read that hospitals have asked someone (FTC?) to investigate price gouging by staffing agencies who are charging a lot to supply traveling nurses.
I thought that was pretty rich, the ultimate pot calling the kettle black. Yes, please, would someone please investigate (and do something about) hospitals and price gouging.

God, this really hit.

Dumb question, and anyone please chime in: do you have to go to the pharmacy and ask for them, or are you offered them at checkout, or, ??? I have to pick up prescriptions today and I donā€™t want to be That Asshole who asks the visibly very stressed out pharmacists who work there if they have any.

At Meijer they just had them out with a sign. But I donā€™t think itā€™s a-hole territory to just ask a question about where they are. I think all locations will probably be different.

I went to a pharmacy inside a grocery store. As I approached the pharmacy, I saw a man sitting just in front of where you check in with a box full of masks on his lap. I asked if those were the free masks and he just handed me a bag of them.

I guess I was expecting more of a rush on the free masks. I was there within 30 minutes of opening but the store seemed busy. But I didnā€™t see anyone else near the pharmacy at all and the manā€™s box of masks was very full.
