I’m getting my second Pfizer shot next week! I have another appointment in the same town 2 hours later and I’m wondering if I should keep it or cancel and head straight home after the vaccine. I’ll also ask my doc but wanted to check on how people felt in the few hours after the second vaccine.

I felt pretty gross after both shots, but it took 6-8 hours to kick in. I ran several errands after each dose while I still felt fine. My guess is that it takes some time for your body to translate the mRNA into the spike protein, and then a little more time after that to mount the immune response. But of course, YMMV.

I felt fine immediately after my second Pfizer shot. My appointment was in the middle of the work day and I was able to work in the afternoon no problem.

I got tired around 6-7 hours post-vaccine and took a nap. Around 12 hours post-vaccine I got aches and chills. I had a rough night and took a sick day the next day.

I felt much better yesterday but exhausted again last night. This morning I got up to feed the cats and then went back to bed, which I usually don’t do.

I figure this is going to take a few days to work itself out. Boyfriend, maddeningly, after some fatigue the night after the shot and the morning after, is perfectly fine.

You’ll probably be OK. It took around 4-5 hours for me to start feeling terrible after my second Pfizer.

We have Indian vendors at work and I’m worried about them. Mostly, I’m worried that they’re being forced to work in unsafe conditions. I used to work for a vendor company and the ethos of “do not miss work unless you are dead, we will miss deadlines and then never get work again, AAAAAA” is strong.

Already some of the PMs are like “we’re keeping in close touch with them to make sure they meet their dates.” Uh? How about making sure they are safe? Which, I realize, isn’t within our power. But, that didn’t sit right with me. Productivity over well being at all times!!!

Thanks for the replies about the second shot!

Last week an “uncle” (Marmalade’s neighbor from growing up) died from COVID. He’s the one who always asked for fancy tech toys when Marmalade traveled to India, and that always stressed me out. Marmalade’s immediate family had met up with cousins, mask-less, and said they’ve all been careful but now that this has happened they’re regretting not taking it more seriously. Fuck the politicians for letting people die because the elections were happening and they wanted votes.

My BIL and SIL have appointments for their first dose next week. I’m massively relieved. They’re both kinda executive functioning messes, and balls of anxiety, so I was really worried they wouldn’t get it together to get their shots. Plus they’re both still traveling, including for fun. SIL is currently in California for a girls trip. :unamused: this is her 4th one this year? Plus her and BIL going to Hawaii. Plus traveling for her nieces birthday party. And Christmas. And thanksgiving. But they’re just like, sooooo stressed out.

Anyway, I’ll be glad to have them vaccinated so I don’t end up exhausted judging them for being inconsiderate assholes. :grimacing:

My arm was sore, and that was it. I had a headache when I went in to get the shot and didn’t get any worse. Dh said he was tired but he takes a nap every afternoon anyway.

There is a super dark spot right next to where I live and I’m surprised I haven’t heard anything about it.

I am on 4 different local waitlists. My neighbour told me she was able to schedule her husband 2 weeks out. I figured I’m in no rush because I’m lucky to be home and not really interact with anyone.

Friday SO called me over and he found openings that came up for Saturday at Costco. I went yesterday morning and got it (AZ). Arm is a little achy this am but all good. And I was having headaches before I got the vaccine so I can’t say it’s from it ( I go through periods where I get headaches for a few days at a time).

Anyways, happy I got it, and next dose is going to be scheduled for end of August.

So I guess even if you are on waitlists still keep checking because other opportunities may still come up.

One of the teachers at our daycare was in the hospital for a week and a half with what seems to be the rare reaction to the J&J vaccine. They sent her home Wednesday or Thursday, but the school just sent an email with a GoFundMe link for healthcare costs with a goal of $10k :frowning:

I signed up for V-safe to report symptoms post-vaccine. One thing I thought was interesting was that it continued to ask me “were you pregnant at the time of your vaccine?” for several weeks afterward. I knew for sure I wasn’t pregnant but not everyone would. It stopped after a month, though, which I think is too soon!

 if you ask me every day for a month, then within 3 days not bleeding I’ll be peeing on a stick out of superstition
