Just finished season 1! How did I not notice the Bridgerton siblings started with A, B, C, D, E, F, G,H in order?

I finally finished Season 2!

Summary

Hmmm I think they’ve gotta merge some of the later books. All the subplots are overlapping with the first few seasons.

I was not as annoyed by Eloise by the time we finally got through the season but I imagine she will have a lot of self reflection to do. The Featherington subplot was extremely fun, Ponder picked that Lady Featherington loved her daughters more than the idea of running off with the Lord and I was unsurprised that her housekeeper, the most trusted staff member, had extra qualities like excellent penwomanship.

I really enjoyed how furious Edwina got.

I guess Season 3 will have:

  1. Benedicts love story (obvs). I was surprised he’s left the art academy! What does he do now?! (I havent read his book.) Wasn’t the artist lady going to become his proper love interest? No? Maybe i should read the book, i enjoyed comparing the book to the series as I went this time.
  2. Francesca getting married to her first husband.
  3. Eloise and Penelope being upset with one another. Maybe the writers will have their love stories overlap in Season 4? And then have George and Hyacinth’s overlap in Season 5. Otherwise there’s a lot of time to fill and they will run out of subplots, I think. Wil Colin find out Penelope’s betrayal? He’s already enacted key parts of their story in this season! Do we overlap Benedict, Colin and Francesca’s subplot?!

I havent read the books! Should i??

The show is just as enjoyable without. I like knowing spoilers in advance and babbling my commentary as i watch, and i am not convinced the books are good enough to pay for, but i am reading them ad-hoc through the library.

I actually read a few weeks ago that they are going to switch Benedict and Colin in the order of the stories! So the next one will be Colin and then Benedict. That is going to mess with Eloise’s story too though :woman_facepalming:

okay real talk, The books are pure trash, and the writing is…okay… It’s like reading a novel-length fanfic. They repeat plots between the books, she overuses phrases (many of which are anachronisms) and there’s (like the show) so many historical inaccuracies.

That being said, I got it out from the library when I was sick at some point, and I read like 5 books in a day. They’re probably the definition of a beach read.

You have nailed exactly why I am watching and reading. I cannot manage almost anything else at the moment, but this? This I can do and it keeps the depression at bay, ish.

I’m reading the library’s ebook, unsure about physical copies but I’d guess they’re somewhere in the library system too, even if its an inter-library loan.

I read all of Julia Quinn’s books while I had PPD after L’s birth. It was perfect and exactly what I needed at the time.
