Best Buy’s got the Galaxy A23, which seems very similar. $275 unlocked. Mediocre specs, but pretty much the same as what I’ve got now.
The next step up in Galaxies would be $600, and I just don’t care that much about better photos and more storage.

I’ve done an IKEA mattress and an online mattress very happily. If IKEA has everything out as s store model you can choose and then buy online or register to be notified. We sleep on an IKEA topper in our children’s room. I find it very comfortable most of the time. Sometimes I feel a bit of me against hard floor.
The online mattress we chose and have in our room, we chose because the reviews included positive stories about returns from people who didn’t like it. They pick them up and give them to charities.
I also felt that we’d be less picky online. We each sometimes hate a hotel or guest bed, but more often are happy with it. If and when we replace, I think we will go to a custom place and have my side firmer/his softer.
I’m still using a Moto G I purchased in Dec 2018. I plan to replace it soon to get more memory and a more recent operating system. Some apps no longer work on it due to the old operating system. And it can be very slow at times.
I have a back up battery charger I often carry with it to address the battery issues.
I don’t rely on my phone working as a navigation device for hiking or biking if I don’t have the battery backup.
I have bought a mattress from a local store, and it was nice to lay on them and compare what I liked and didn’t.
But since then we’ve bought online and have been equally happy with them. I’ve bought Lucid on Amazon and found the reviews very helpful.
I will not be spending $kkk on a mattress, though, so I’m not even going to try out a mattress that costs that much.
If you can get the port to work once, we got another few months out of Husband’s old Moto-something-or-other with this magnetic charger thingy that stays in the port all the time, and as a bonus discovered we love it so much that now all our devices have it. Bonus: it’s cheap. (And available outside the evil empire, but using them for reference.)

This is wild - I started with the Pixel 4 (I think? And now I have the 7a) and my experience has been completely different from yours! I’ve loved both of my Pixels and the camera quality has been amazing. No real issues yet for my current phone, and the old one died a typical death after 4 years.
Me too. I’m in a committed relationship with Pixel phones.
@MonkeyJenga that’s an idea! I got an Anker battery for when I travel and it’s been so great, if you don’t mind hauling the extra weight.
Maybe they got their act together but I’m very unhappy about them lying about the microphone failure saying that it’s not a known issue when it turns out that so many people had encountered it. Even if their phones are better now, I won’t go with them on principle!
My plan was to keep it simple. Go to one store, find a bed I liked, and buy it.
Today I went to the local store and tried beds from three different lines. I found two that I liked. All of the Sealy mattresses I tried felt like a couple of inches of foam over plywood, so those are out.
I left (earlier than I needed to, because they had not reset their clocks) to check reviews, etc.
Candidate #1 was a Serta iComfort something on close-out, so marked way down. There is no warranty due to it being a close-out model. Hmm.
The reviews are pretty bad - the durability is poor, frequently six months or less, and even with a warranty they don’t stand behind their products. Nope.
Candidate #2 is a Serenity mattress by Golden Mattress Company, supposedly based in LA. I cannot find a single review of them, and I don’t see this particular mattress on their website. I’m not comfortable going with a company with no reviews, anywhere. Nope.
I also didn’t like that there were no placards with each bed listing the name, features, or price of each model, which made the process feel more difficult than it should have. Getting a question answered by this particular salesperson felt challenging.
FWIW, the JD Power Mattress Satisfaction says that people who buy their mattresses online are generally happier with their purchase than those who buy at a retail location. I may go that route yet.
Thank you everyone for your input. I’m glad my camping mattress is comfortable.
We’ve definitely been happy with our recent purchase. I like sleeping on as close to a board as I can get though, so I generally don’t weigh in on mattress discussions much but it’s worth noting that our first “inflated” wrong, and was angled weird on the side by about 2”, and they sent us an entirely new one free of charge. No hassle except sending photos and trying one fix first which didn’t work. Gave us the option to have them pick up the old one or encouraged us to keep in and donate to someone, which is what we did. We got the tuft and needle “nod”.
Target carries them! and the prices points are very competitive. I will be surprised if I can try them at Target, but I’m going to go there tomorrow anyway.
Sleep Number ranking highly in the JD Power report for 2023. I thought that they were online only, but there’s a store near me, and the entry level model is in my desired price range*:
I wonder if you could get a used base and a new top, if you really like it?
Well, if you would like some enablement (…that’s the point of a money forum, right?), my partner and I got a fancy adjustable base as well (head and foot adjustability) and it is reeeeally nice to have. I’m surprisingly glad that we splurged for fancy pants lol
I bought a bed!
It’s the entry-level Sleep Number bed (C2). Turns out the $1200 includes the base. Thanks to Black Friday sales, delivery (11/20) is free. I decided to go with a full, to save a few bucks and get a bit more room in my apartment.
It’s basically a glorified air bed, which I think is a good thing. I realized last night that my inflatable camping mattress is more comfortable than all of the beds I tested before today, in terms of pressure points / mild discomfort in my shoulder or back. I think there is something to the idea of the even pressure provided by an air bed.
I need to buy a frame, which the sales rep recommended I do somewhere else to save a few $$.
Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions, moral support, and enablement.
I have or will have a referral code that others can use to get a nice discount, DM me if you are interested.
And I bought a phone!
Going without a phone for a few days hasn’t been as terrible as I expected. Thanks for the advice, y’all.
Is this a grandfathered plan type thing, or is it available now? We have to get DH off his stupid expensive 1G data plan.
Ok I think we’re buying a fridge this month (Black Fri sales start in early November and last the whole month from what I can tell?)
Spouse wants an LG and I think we’ve narrowed it down to these two. Anyone have personal experience, strong opinions, or suggestions for similar things to consider? Needs to be 36" wide and <70.25" tall. Strongly leaning towards counter depth but would consider standard depth.
That first one, regular depth is what we have. I like the two drawers. We’ve had no issues and I love the layout.
No idea, sorry. I’m just hoping it continues when I switch phones.
I switched to Verizon prepaid recently. $35/mo for 15 GB.
