Let’s talk printers and scanners. I’m an artist working in a basement studio with limited space. I have a 5 year old iMac running the latest operating system. I have no more than $500 CAD to spend on a quality printer and a quality scanner. Tax here is 15%. Ugh! What can I get that will work with my 5 year old iMac, and won’t cost me an arm and a leg in ink cartridges? Thank-you
We just did the beyond pates, I’ll do them again if they are in stock. Sometimes I go to the pet store and fill a basket with assorted pate. I used to always do pet valu perfomatrim but pandemic
I have an Epson ET-2750 that I really love. The current model looks like it’s the 2850? $300 USD for that one at best buy.
What I like about it: no fuss, low maintenance, pairs easily with wifi, double sided printing. Scanning is pretty easy and you can scan directly to an SD card or via USB. I like the orientation of the scanning surface (which corner becomes the top left) - it feels intuitive to me. Most importantly: refillable ink tanks instead of cartridges. You can tell if it’s running low visually, from the front of the printer. And no DRM cartridges so you can buy manufacturer ink or 3rd party ink.
I also use it with a 2014 MacBook and it works fine.
Cons: if you don’t print very often, I’ve heard that the ink can dry up and you have to clean it. I haven’t had this issue and I print things maybe once a month?
ETA: when I do print things it’s often dozens of pages at a time, so I do put it through its paces with black and white documents and sewing patterns. Not as sure about color print quality.
I like Epson and Brother for printer/scanners. If you get a printer with refillable cartridges (tank cartridges) the ink will be cheaper (since you can buy more brands and because bottles of ink are cheaper than specific cartridges). There are also eco lines from both companies that claim longer usage from each cartridge if you want to go the cartridge route.
I have an update! I have a friend who is a very thorough shopper (like, say @Marcela or @AllHat) and also happens to be about the same size as I am, and I asked her about this dilemma. She had a coat that met this description that she wanted to give away, so she gave it to me It’s warm and cute. It’s a straight size from Lululemon and does fit my proportions, if any other of the petite and straight sized among us are also looking for coats that fit well.
Huh, LuLuLemon! Didn’t know they did winter coats. Thanks for the tip!
Best outcome ever!!
That’s awesome!
I’m looking for a thing to put on a table to create an angled writing surface for Kiddo. Maybe like a lap desk? But to go on an existing table. This probably exists and I’m not searching properly for it, I feel like I looked this up in the past too but I guess didn’t actually order anything.
Thank you!

Durable, comfortable flannel sheets? Where do I find these?
I love my LL Bean ones but they are $$$
But they’re holding up well for you? I want some that last longer than 2-3 years (half time use)
Has anyone bought a ceiling fan lately? What are the qualities I should look for if I buy a fan? One of our fans fell out of the ceiling, and I want to use this as an excuse to buy a cuter one.
I’ve only had them for a year so I suppose that’s a less helpful endorsement.
No suggestions for the ceiling fan itself except to make sure that it’s rated for your size room, but highly suggest you get a crossbar to hang it from that bolts to the studs so it doesn’t fall back out
