Your Very Own Personal Shopper

Does this exist? I want, like, a poncho for my bike. Not a bulky storage cover but something that would fold up small enough to be stored at work or carried around on the bike so that if it rains while I’m at work, I could real quick pop the cover on the bike. But I don’t have a lot of storage space.

I keep not biking to work because I’m afraid it will rain. I was able to store the bike in a stairwell at my old location but this one is real small.

You could use garbage bags and packing tape to try making one. It’s a very low stakes experiment.

Do you not want your bike getting wet, or do you not want to sit on a wet seat? If it’s the latter you could also get a couple small car wash super absorbent towels for a quick wipe down before you get on.

To protect just the seat I think a shower cap works great.

A very lightweight Tarp/tyvel sheet?

Cut out the requisite size from the thinnest (or acceptable thickness) plastic painting tarp? Add clips or bungees as required?

Picnic tablecloth seems TOO thin. My reusable vinyl tablecloth folds up about the size of a towel? Would still need to attach to bike. I wouldn’t bag it, just attach on the outside.

Plastic moving cover for a mattress? Won’t last forever, but might last for quite a long time.

These are super helpful, thank you to everyone who commented! I don’t already own anything like a tablecloth or tarp that might be suitable (or clips to hold it on with) so I might go with cheap knockoff cover.

See, the thing is, I probably will hardly ever need it. It doesn’t rain here very much and when it does, our rain “is not very wet.”*

*This is something I like to say to my 14yo to provoke him. “That’s not how rain works, Mother!” What I mean is that our rain is not especially heavy and doesn’t last long.

What I am really trying to avoid is all the days when I do not even try to bike because I’m concerned.
