Does this exist? I want, like, a poncho for my bike. Not a bulky storage cover but something that would fold up small enough to be stored at work or carried around on the bike so that if it rains while I’m at work, I could real quick pop the cover on the bike. But I don’t have a lot of storage space.
I keep not biking to work because I’m afraid it will rain. I was able to store the bike in a stairwell at my old location but this one is real small.
Do you not want your bike getting wet, or do you not want to sit on a wet seat? If it’s the latter you could also get a couple small car wash super absorbent towels for a quick wipe down before you get on.
To protect just the seat I think a shower cap works great.
Cut out the requisite size from the thinnest (or acceptable thickness) plastic painting tarp? Add clips or bungees as required?
Picnic tablecloth seems TOO thin. My reusable vinyl tablecloth folds up about the size of a towel? Would still need to attach to bike. I wouldn’t bag it, just attach on the outside.
These are super helpful, thank you to everyone who commented! I don’t already own anything like a tablecloth or tarp that might be suitable (or clips to hold it on with) so I might go with cheap knockoff cover.
See, the thing is, I probably will hardly ever need it. It doesn’t rain here very much and when it does, our rain “is not very wet.”*
*This is something I like to say to my 14yo to provoke him. “That’s not how rain works, Mother!” What I mean is that our rain is not especially heavy and doesn’t last long.
What I am really trying to avoid is all the days when I do not even try to bike because I’m concerned.
I can’t remember who recommended it, so I’m sending a general thank you to whomever recommended the Blueland dishwasher tablets. They do a good job of cleaning and don’t leave that soapy taste on silicone! I grabbed 440 tablets on eBay for $80 so I’m set for the year
Someday I want to get a captain’s bed for our room. It barely holds one room and a queen size bed, and it’s so dusty under our bed and hard to clean around all the boxes shoved under there. It seems like a bed with storage would keep dust from accumulating under the bed (and keep cats out) while also giving us tidier places to put things. We have no plans to move in roughly the next 15 years, although one never knows.
Do these exist made out of real wood or would I be looking at an IKEA situation? One does want a sturdy bed that doesn’t creak and wobble.
I’m sure that you can get a real wood storage bed if you pay real wood prices.
Ours is not handcrafted out of oak or anything but it is actual wood not particleboard. I don’t know what kind of wood it is but I bought it from Wayfair and it is extremely solid. It took two full days to assemble, though.
One thing to look for on storage beds is how far the drawers go. I’ve seen some that they go back like 15 inches.
We like the look and drawers on the IKEA Songesand, BUT the support beam in the headboard cracked down the middle after like a year of use… And we are not that active if you catch my drift Husband replaced it with a real wood beam cut to length with all the holes painstakingly drilled, because we didn’t want to deal with warranty reolacement and have the same issue a year later.
I was considering a storage bed on hydraulic lifts instead of drawers, but that didn’t work with the mattress we had and I was down voted on the idea. It offers more like deep storage than easily accessible storage, but the bed lift also makes changing the sheets easier.
do we have a thread that’s the opposite of this one? a product recommendations thread? because I have found the MAGICAL HOLY GRAIL of toddler berry stains on clothes. no more immediate hot water rinse, blue dawn, shout, UV rays from the sun, wash again, baking soda, isopropyl alcohol, and repeat ad nauseum.
Oh NO! What did you try it on? Fruit & fabric type? It’s been magic for me over the course of several weeks before I recommended it! I did spray it like pretty much right after the berry / cherry staining and it only took a few spritz! I watched the juice disappear in real time
Maybe you got an old batch?! Maybe ask for your money back and/or a free replacement?
