Your Very Own Personal Shopper

does anyone have a mini projector they like? I’m looking for something to project patterns that I can trace onto fabric, so I feel like it doesn’t have to be fancy!

So, having hit a savings milestone and not being interested in fancy dinners out, Husband is pushing for us to get a functional robot vaccum as our celebration. Our near 15-year old Roomba pet version seems to have died a noble death. We need something that can handle tons of fur and the mud he tracks in while not choking itself on cords and general mess. I’m looking at a Roomba 7j+, though the near-$700 price tag is something I never imagined I’d even consider spending on something like that.

But does anyone have feedback on that model or other options that can handle a very challenging environment? All hard floors here.

We have a Roborock Qrevo we like. We have a long haired cat and long haired human that it deals with well, and mostly it doesn’t eat cords up.

I don’t know if we are a sufficiently challenging environment for comparison, though.

I have the eufy C10 and am very pleased with it. The mapping and scheduling functions are great and I appreciate how the autoempty means I don’t have to deal with much maintenance. It handled 2 humans with long thick hair and 1 constantly shedding short hair dog just fine. No mud usually, but plenty of dust and pollen would come in from open windows and the back door. It’s only $200 so a significantly lower cost.

I have both hard floors and rugs and carpet. It does well with all and will boost the suction when on carpet. Sometimes we get cord tangles and it has dragged the lightweight bath rug out of the room before.

We have a roborock Q7 and it is great with kid and cat hair, but I would get a aelf emptying with a dog. My brother and a neighbour both have self emptying roborocks that stand up to dogs etc. i hear Roomba is less great now?

Our place recently killed a Eufy, though I think it was a lower end model. I have men and dogs running in and out all day long, and I’m afraid you might run screaming if you saw the usual state of things around here. so, anyway, I’m a little hesitant over getting a Eufy.

See, I’m very worried about Roomba being less great now. Our late lamented one could handle anything.

I wonder if anyone still makes a robot for workshops?

Seeing good reviews for Roborock, have put a Q7 on the list thanks to that and your real life report.

I did find some robot vacuums made for workshops and manufacturing, but they’re 1200 bucks. Not happening.

We have this one (I think the 2?) and it’s EPIC. We love the moping. I have two small humans who drag in everything (lots of dead grass), and a golden with lots of fur and also drags in everything.

One thing to consider is if it will fit under your cabinets, ours doesn’t and it’s a little bit of a bummer swiffering them but it’s not terrible.

If you want to go down a YouTube rabbit hole “just a dad” I think is his name? Reviews all of the robot vacuums and rates them.

Don’t buy it for more than $850, that’s the price I see it on sale for pretty often.

I’ll check the YouTube channel out!

My Roborock is the best robot I’ve ever had! I love it so much.

There is an intense robot vacuum subreddit that I fell down when choosing this last helper. He was the best option in my admittedly low price range.

Roomba is no longer the end all be all of vacuums, but I think. That’s more the other catching up than it getting worse.

Ok, new Roborock Q7 is currently questioning its life choices and scaring the dogs. So far, so good. Thanks, all.

May you love it as we love ours.

It empties itself!

And looks like I’ll have to buy new dustbin bags. Small price to pay.

We just fish out the stuff from the dust bin bags and reuse them but I should look at getting new ones too lol

Oh, good to know that’s possible. I haven’t even checked how to take it out yet.

But it finished a scheduled cleaning after I left the house this morning and successfully put itself back on the charger!

I think the dogs though I was leaving them to be murdered by a little white hockey puck, though. It only has access to part of the house so far, so they had plenty of places to get away from it. Pickle hates the emptying noise.

I do this too haha

I just read online that you can vacuum out the little dustbin bags with the hose attachment for a standard vacuum cleaner. :grinning:
