Your Very Own Personal Shopper

I used to have a Secura one that was reasonably priced and all metal. I love my Brewista one with bigger spout where you can choose your temperature, but it’s more expensive.

Booo! How annoying especially for something that is $$$

What is the advantage of gooseneck?

If you’re doing pourover coffee you get better control.

For tea it’s slower, which I dislike.

They look nicer, and because the kettle part tends to be a little smaller and more minimalist, it doesn’t have the view ports and extra bits that are most likely to be plastic. It’s much easier to find a gooseneck without any internal plastic than a more upright style electric kettle. And they’re more likely to be inexpensive.

Source: my mom asked for the same thing a few years ago and I did a pretty deep internet search. She ended up with a gooseneck.

I do make pourover coffee, so the control is nice, but also even for tea I like gooseneck because it keeps me from being a chaos agent and splashing hot water everywhere . I am very clumsy lol. And it’s a fast enough pour rate it doesn’t bother me.

I upgraded this year to an Aarke. $$$, not a gooseneck, 5 different temp settings. So far I like it but can’t speak to its longevity yet!

I have a gooseneck with no plastic touching the water at work, but I got it at a thrift store and have no idea what kind it is! I think I got a bargain.

At home I have one that’s not a gooseneck and it has plastic touching water.

We have a simple cheap one that doesn’t have any plastic touching the water. The inside is fully stainless steel.

Apparently we bought it in 2016! Almost 10 years old and going strong with multiple times per day use. Amazon.com: Brentwood 1.2 Liter Stainless Steel Tea Kettle Model KT-1770: Electric Kettles: Home & Kitchen

@BiblioFeroz i know you were asking about toddler water bottles awhile ago, did you find one you liked?

I went with Owala Free Sip with the straw removed. The big downside is that you can spill it, but it is quite secure if properly closed.

I love the Owala free sip water bottles! They’re so nice to drink from.

My kids don’t get them though. My son has on average lost 1 water bottle a week. Most of the time they turn up in lost and found eventually but we’re still -3 on the year. At this point I’m ready to send him in with a labeled disposable water bottle :woman_facepalming:t2:.

Cuckoo is only 3 so adults always help her. My oldest (15) keeps good track now but my middle child (13) has been reduced to the cheap extra plastic one.

We’ve been working through the free conference water bottles

One can also usually find this kind of thing at the thrift store, should one run out.

For an intermediate option between $$ bottle and disposable plastic, could consider Collections – PATH Water

That is where I got my official kid bottles this year…but we are down to 2 of those and I often forget to wash. So free bottles too! Next year maybe we help loved ones declutter.

I would like to make a photo book of my late kitty for us and also print some postcards to hand deliver or send to other people that loved her (vets, friends, catsitters, etc)

Does anyone have favorite service(s) for this? Bonus for integration with Google photos, easy to use, good print/paper quality/value.
