Don’t use too much powder! Unless you have very hard water, fill up the area half or less.
Haha that was probably shared by me! They were amazing and surprisingly entertaining videos, right??

Maybe! I remember how cool it was to see a dishwasher doing its process because he had a special dishwasher with a clear door. Lifelong mysteries revealed!
Here’s the videos again, they’re very worth watching! And the guy has a very soothing voice.
Part 1:
Part 2 Follow-up:
Summary of his tips:
He ended the second video by saying that your dishwasher uses very little water and electricity and it’s better for the environment for you to use it instead of handwashing!
I think some came with my new dishwasher but I haven’t tried them yet. I should!
Some of these tips sounds like they only apply to dishwashers that are different to ours. There’s no pre-rinse area I’m aware of? I’ll have to look at it.
And my dishwasher doesn’t expect hot water, it only has access to the cold water tap, it heats is own.
We use pods because they are very easy. I grab a pod, i pop it in, i am done. I don’t need to stress about soiling a powder while small children run around.
I think he does say that the water expected to be hot is specific to North American dishwashers. Also my Miele doesn’t have a pre-rinse area. He said that Bosch and Miele got rid of those areas because it was confusing people.
I like the blue land dishwasher tablets too! They’re basically powder pressed into a tablet shape, no plastic coating
Oh, Miele too? I have a Bosch here at this house (do not remember the brand of the one I’m about to own) and correct, it does not have the prewash compartment. But it does have a rinse aid compartment, which I’ve also have never tried.
I will probably end up replacing the dishwasher in my new house, since the door hinges are broken and it’s very loud. I’ve gotten used to my super quiet Bosch. I wonder what people recommend for dishwashers?
I really like my whirlpool, but I can’t look up the model number or anything for you until I get home. Might be out of date, anyway since we’ve been in the house 11 years. But it’s super quiet and works well, and I imagine it’s less costly than a Bosch or Miele.
According to my appliance guy, anything but Samsung. their sensors are ass and break.
bosch is the best!
our last rental house had one and our new house doesn’t and i miss it, though not enough to shell out for a new one. ours also has door hinges that dont hold up, but we just deal with it. i mostly miss the 3rd level drawer!
Bosch! We had one in our previous place, and we replaced our non-working dishwasher in our current place with a Bosch. We got the previous year’s model on top of a sale, so got a really good price on it.
According to the dishwasher video guy, rinse aid is cheap and you should use it!
I was going to get a Bosch but the Bosch dealer had an open box Miele for a steal (previous model) so I got that! Apparently it is even better quality than Bosch and is expected to last longer. I think the dealer was Standard TV & Appliance. I recommend seeing what open box models they have!
Also @Ivy you don’t need to put rinse aid every time. The dishwasher is supposed to indicate when it’s running low. Mine only indicated after a month or two, so it’s really not much extra work!
It’s just a matter or remembering to even buy some!
I just throw white vinegar in there when I remember. I don’t see a ton of difference between using it and not.
I literally never use rinse aid and it’s fine ![]()
I also got a Bosch (I think 800 aka fancy) and I really like it
We don’t use rinse aid and the water doesn’t completely dry even with the fancy crystal dry thing which annoys my husband but I do not care. Thought I should mention it in case you care though!
Bosch. I recommend Bosch. They’re very quiet. Get the 3rd rack.
Vinegar is hard on the seals, I’ve read.
