Yoga With Adrienne - 30 Day Journey

I think towards the end of the 30 days (like maybe after day 20) it would be useful to have a poll or conversation about who might be interested in what for next month since it seems like a lot of people want to do something. That way we can get the details nailed down in time to roll from day 30 (or 31 to let people take a day off or catch up or whatever) and then roll right into the next thing, whatever that next thing is.

I had an idea of having one group all together but within the group some people could be working on lower energy stuff like yoga and other people could work on higher energy stuff (or even vary it day by day depending on how life is going) but we’d still get the effect of “checking in” with the group. The biggest thing for me is I don’t want to have to figure out my own work outs, I just want to show up and do what someone tells me even if it’s just a Youtube video instead of an in person instructor.

Ha, maybe next year for me on kettlebells . You don’t have trouble doing yoga right after breakfast? I have been exercising before breakfast but I’m not sure how long I will be able to keep that up. It’s probably not the smartest idea even now.

I’ve also been enjoying the accountability even though I am way behind! Today was Day 6 for me. I can’t remember who had trouble with the unsupported neck, but this has ALWAYS been a problem for me. I had to keep taking head-down breaks during this portion, but happily I was still getting plenty of ab work. And I found the side-lying stuff awkward. Now that I am reviewing afterwards, I wonder if it’s because I have tyrannosaur arms and just wasn’t high enough off the ground!

I remembered that I had bought a merino wool shirt at Costco intending to wear it hiking. That should be perfect for yoga in this chilly room, although “ab day” kept me pretty warm!

Me! Glad to know I’m not alone. I feel like no matter how much I try to focus on supporting my head with the back of my neck it falls through eventually, and it’s not great, lol. I think next time I’ll just focus on alternate exercises so I get more ab benefit without the need for breaks.

Nope, I slowly eat a bowl of oatmeal with frozen blueberries and PB Powder added for protein. Nothing heavy. I actually can’t do anything before breakfast. My available calories and blood sugar are so low that if I even walk around too much I end up in a ball on the floor shaking and trying really hard to stay conscious and not vomit. Some days it is hard to get the girls diapers changed and at the table with their breakfast before I eat.

I did a pilates/integrated movement class once where we fixed this, but I can’t remet how.

i did day 8 late last night, and definitely fell asleep on the floor! skipping a day was not my best plan, but eh. im semi-focused on being chill about it.

Feeling it in my outer thighs and shoulder blade area today after 2 sessions yesterday!

For those who have neck trouble during abs, what are your shoulders doing? Are they down away from your ears or are they rounded?

Also weren’t we using hands/arms for head support on ab day? (elbows out!)

I probably round my shoulders, now that I’m thinking about it.

My biggest problem during the ab video was when we were supporting the torso with elbows.

I’m totally into this. Like @meerkat said I think a poll would be great. Kind of how we did book club, but it can be a new exercise every month?

I don’t wanna lead anything tho… Just show up and follow simple instructions… Lol. I’m sure there are 30 day challenges on the internets.

The forearm planks?

No, when we were leaning back and doing like leg lifts or something. I also have trouble with boat pose and v-ups, normally.

I mean. I DID have trouble with the forearm planks, but that was because my shoulders are weak, lol.

Oh, OK I remember now. Yeah, easy to “bunch up” in the torso doing that. I’m not an expert in this btw, but I think I remember having more issues with neck tension/pain before, and I think what changed is someone pointed out I needed to pull down my shoulders, pull shoulderblades together, and keep my back straighter (“find length”).

At least, could be suffering something to try? (Thanks, autocorrect!) It is more effort so you might get pumped out faster. But that’s OK!

That’s a good idea, thanks.

I do notice that hunch my shoulders regularly anyway, as I sit at a desk with terrible posture all day. I should be working on it all the time, I’m sure it contributes a lot to my tension headaches.

I completed day 11 but my joints were quite crunchy during some of the mobility exercises today. I had my own personal sound track.

Day 8 was surprisingly difficult. I am not good at lack of moving.

Day 11 done!

I love this group for accountability but I also think I only have 1 30-day challenge per year in me. There’s a reason most exercise programs have rest days!

My lower back has been hurting and it should not be hurting already at this age, so I’m jumping in late. Yoga baybeee!
