Tiny Victories

Not so tiny victory, finally wrapping up the never ending, stupidly complicated audit at work and it’s unqualified! @AmandaS1989 can I send the auditors like a fruit basket or something as a thank you for dragging my disorganized ass across the finish line or does that jeopardize their independence?

I found a favorite discontinued Urban Decay lipstick on Poshmark for $18 which is around face value. I’ve only ever seen it listed before for truly obscene prices - in one case over $100! Come on, it’s pretty but don’t be ridiculous.

High school workshop series held, all successfully completed at least the main project and a couple of the kids who were hesitant at first grabbed the ‘extra project’ kit additions to take home with them.

My TV is reading that you found lipstick at “face” value, and cacklibg to myself.

@Rhubarbsoda hell yeah you can. Something that small is unlikely to impair your auditor’s independence (or give the impression of impaired independence) so go nuts.

Do you know how rare it is for clients to show real appreciation? Geez, most of ours bitch about even a $500 increase from the previous year. My Library client practically thanks me on their knees every year when I do their audit and answer all their questions. You bet your ass if I have two clients-one who bitches and one who appreciates-call me at the same time with a question/problem you know who’s getting help first. Sure ain’t the bitchy ones.

One of our for-profit clients sends us a basket of various chocolate-covered nuts every Christmas. We always look forward to that.

Going through the new ‘perks’ on the cc that decided to majorly up their annual fee and found out that even if I’m still not sure if I’ll keep it (it’s pretty close to break-even without the corporate discount, so if they’ve discontinued that it’s probably not worth the hassle), one of the new offerings is $100 of free food per quarter. Which based on how they word it is supposed to end up just being a discount to some seriously fancy/$$$$ restaurants that I pretty much never go to, but somehow a local Mexican place that (for that amount) will fill up a picnic box worth of enchiladas and fajita fixings that’ll last me a week made the list. So sometime this quarter and then January of next year I get a week’s worth of free food even if I don’t keep the card when it renews (Feb).

Results are still unofficial, but I’m happy that our Democratic mayoral candidate seems to have won - satisfying given that there was MAGA dark money funding a really, really nasty smear campaign against her.

Willow and Daisy visited my work today. I couldn’t get good pictures because when they were standing still they were leaning against me. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
