Would the anti-guilt spiel I gave myself when Chickadee went to daycare be helpful?

Yes please! Silly bc I already have a child in daycare but there we are

The spiel:

I am not abandoning Chickadee, I am expanding her world. She will learn to interact with adults who are not in her family, and to trust them. She will learn to interact with other children. She will get to play with a million toys that she’s never going to have access to at home. She will get to play with other children as she grows. She will learn to make friends and navigate basic conflict and share with people who aren’t her family. She’ll eat food that’s different from what I cook for her. She’ll learn to speak from people who aren’t just her family.

I have a very similar mantra, thank you for sharing yours.

I want to add one of mine: “my goal is to raise independent and resilient kids. The help of other adults and peers is a great way to do this.”

Also, nothing is permanent. You’re collecting data! If she loves and thrives in daycare, amazing! You found a good fit. If it’s too hard for her or your family you will have new data to make a different decision later.

I’m sending you and your family all of the good vibes! You’re amazing parents who care about your kids and meeting their needs. You will keep making the next right decisions for your family.

TBH I needed to hear this too (my kid goes to day care 1 day a week and I’m always waffling on whether it’s more for me or for her)

We got many, many lice notices home from school, and none of my three kids - all of whom had long hair - ever got them.

There is a huge tree overflowing with unpicked apples near my house. Tonight sprocket and I walked to my friend’s house to make them come see the tree. Living super close to friends is so good.

Also the kid outgrew some shoes and I have the same foot size as a 10 year old so now I have fancy new high tops.
