Tiny Victories

Dragon?

Dragon. Also ridiculous amounts of hay (which is better than packing peanuts, but still). Current plan is to bribe a couple of trivia team members to get her into place next week.

two hat compliments today, one from a preteen boy who was too shy to tell me directly, so I heard it from his mom

Not tiny. My mom has had terrible hip and pelvic floor pain, and pain with urination for like 2 years now. Severe urgency even when she’s barely drinking anything, has to go to the bathroom every hour or two, etc. She’s been looking HARD for answers - pelvic floor PT, urology, OBGYN, PT for hip and lower back pain, all of it. It turns out she has interstitial cystitis, which is inflammation and hardening of the bladder wall, as well as lesions within the bladder.

She had outpatient surgery to cauterize the lesions with a procedure to stretch out her bladder wall, and she’s 100% pain free. She’s jumping on our trampoline with our kids. She drove 3 hours to visit without stopping to go to the bathroom. It’s AMAZING.

I’m so happy for your mom, that’s life changing! Our cat had interstitial cystitis and from what I learned it was basically the symptoms of a UTI but it had no cure. It sounded like hell.

Yesterday morning, organized the neighborhood weekly play group as usual. Pretty good turn out and the kids all had fun. What was super cool- over the course of it, got invited to a kids bday that evening- we went and it was lovely and just a tiny group of their close friends and family so we felt very special. Then we also ended up coordinating sharing a (large) camp site with our neighbors and their daughter! Which is good since we haven’t booked any camping yet this year  plus, then their kiddo will be more used to us and the mom is pregnant again, so we’ll be emergency back up etc since her family lives far away.

Anyway, all of that to say that I love this little community I’ve build and ripples of good stuff keep coming from it. Happy times.

Oh and my husband specifically thanked me when we got home and said that he knows I put work into this, and it’s a huge positive force in our lives, and he’s really grateful for all the invisible work building and maintaining community I do. He’s a peach.

Just missed the metro this morning but another train came like 2 minutes later that was less crowded and one of the ones with A/C which the train I missed did not have :muscle:

Real estate tax bill just came, and it was slightly under expectations. (Meaning I have to pay less than I had anticipated!)

We were a Neilsen home once - at least 20 years ago. I don’t remember if we got paid, if we did it was small. Definitely no gift basket.
