I baked oat muffins and they’re really good. I can easily cook a 4 course menu for 6 people but even a poundcake is not coming out well. I found a recipe where all ingredients are put in a blender and that’s it. That’s easy enough even for me
Recipe?? That sounds awesome.
Finally getting a haircut after 3 weeks of procrastination.
I made a fan art sketch thing and posted it to their discord and it’s already inspired someone else’s half-formed idea for other fan art.
I used rolled oats and I substituted coconut oil with butter. And used frozen blueberries.
I also loved that it is a small batch (only 6 muffins), that is perfect for one person.
The price of cutting my toddlers nails has finally been negotiated. After many bargaining committee meetings we can cut 10 nails per lollipop.
- unexpected free parking due to public holiday ($5 saved)
- I noticed that the pasta sauce that was BOGO rang up at full price. They forgot to pull the tag for that one ($6 saved by paying attention)
- went to the fancy grocery to pick up a sandwich and saw the table of post-Valentine’s Day sale items! Got a box of Venchi chocolate (quick Internet search says they’re amazing) and two boxes of heart-shaped lavender lemon shortbread cookies for 50% off. Almost $30 saved but also that’s the amount of money I didn’t expect to spend
I hope it’s all incredibly delicious!
The Haida are an indigenous group that have lived in a small archipelago off the BC coast since the beginning of time, more or less. They have lived without a treaty (but with Canada’s Indian Act dictating the destruction of culture and removal of children)
This is a solid step towards decolonization and I’m thrilled.
That’s amazing!!
This is now a TC. I opened up the box and there were 3 flavors of foil wrapped chocolates inside, 15 total. I ate one and was not impressed, it was hard and waxy. I think I paid $17.50 for the box at half off. I may end up giving them away.
We had bought some fresh bamboo shoots still wrapped up in nature’s leaves/husk and were able to prepare them before they went bad. Here’s a condensed version of the process:
- Wash and make a vertical incision in the husk.
- Boil water with rice bran and a couple of chili peppers.
- Put bamboo shoots in boiling water and boil for one hour.
- Turn off burner and let set for three hours.
- Rinse and peel
- Soak in cold water for one to two hours.
Then we bought a can of bamboo shoots for about $2. The fresh ones were closer to $20, but they do taste better. Not $18 better, but better nonetheless.
…I should do this with the cursed bamboo in my yard
Brooklinen is sending us a free linen sheet set because our fitted sheet ripped. Yay!
Woohoo!!
Got stuck in a middle seat on my budget airline flight but as soon as I sat down the guy next to me asked if I would mind switching with his girlfriend so they could sit together. I agreed assuming she was also in a middle seat but turns out she had an aisle seat that was also an extra legroom one? Best deal I’ve ever made.
Some nice financial getting things done victories. We have officially removed PMI from our mortgage loan!
We now have a will, trust, and financial + medical POA. That means our house is out of our name and into a trust, so while we don’t know what the future holds, it feels good that the deed is not in the names of two ladies. We had a long convo with an attorney about what it would take to sell the house if we weren’t in the country. Just making conversation!
We are now jumping through the hoops of funding the trust, and getting the POA accepted at the banks we use frequently, but we are making progress.
Also talking to a CPA and a financial advisor next week about something we were talking about on the random questions thread (and other stuff, but that’s on the list).
Getting things done!
Very impressive!
I just want you to know that I still think about A Full Wedding when taking a shower and sudzing up.
I abandoned a baby agave plant over two years ago on my balcony. I went out there to clean yesterday and somehow it was still alive, and it had 3 babies in the meantime! No water in over two years. Desert plants are amazing!
We celebrated 5 family birthdays today. I made homemade Boston cream pie and it was delicious.
