Dried a sage today. I now have a quart jar of dried sage. Plenty for winter!

The best part is it will stay nice for so much longer! Our apartment was painted entirely in matte paint, which marked up if you looked at it wrong. You couldn’t clean it at all so it got really stained and bad looking, especially from water in the bathrooms. We asked the building to repaint and they said no, so we bought paint in the exact same colors, but just glossy, and DH did it himself.
I think I’m going to buy him a painting he’s been wanting, since he’s a painter now!

Why do apartments do that? We don’t have a backsplash in the kitchen and have matte paint and I am constantly fighting a battle of cleaning up splashes while not also ruining the paint.

Isn’t it maddening?! Glossy makes so much more sense for a living space, especially a kitchen or bathroom! The natural condensation on my bathroom walls made these dripping stains like, immediately after we moved in. The new paint can be wiped, like I spilled a bit of water to test it and wiped it clean off with no staining. I can’t imagine someone would not rent a place because it’s glossy, or rent a place they otherwise wouldn’t if it were matte, and it’s so much lower maintenance like…why? At least we have a backsplash, my kitchen wall would be destroyed without one.

My house was like that when I moved in, I think they tried to pretty it up before selling. Matte white paint over darker green cabinets (yes you could tell what the old color was if you looked at it right), the cabinets themselves were made of particle board and at the end we had one cabinet door that was just completely off because you can’t rescrew the door on when the part it was screwed to disintegrated. We lived with that kitchen for way too long but I really appreciate the one we have now! It still boggles my mind that someone thought flat white paint was good for a kitchen though.

My last apartment was painted all matte too! I cleaned for days with a magic eraser when I moved out because just breathing in that apartment seemed to mark the walls. I don’t get it either? It’s not any cheaper to paint with matte paint.
Great job to your husband, that is a ton of work! But such a huge life improvement, and totally worth it!

Our house was painted with matte paint before they sold it to us. WHY. I didnt repaint because I didnt realise and now every change like that is waiting for “when we get around to our renovation”

My too-wide shoes fit! I’d been dragging my feet on returing a pair of sneakers. My toes fit, but my heels kept slipping out. Finally tried some on in a store, and the person helping me showed me a trick to make them cinch in more at the heels.

We got rid of all our plants on our little apartment deck and then decided to get rid of alllll the gardening stuff while we were at it and two great things happened. First, people took all of our free gardening things within hours, and second: I put my new super comfy camping chair out on the deck (with pillows) and took my yoga mat out there and did an awesome easy yoga workout and then chilled out in my chair, ate breakfast in the sun, and watched the clouds! I LOVE IT!!!

Yes! It was so unexpected. At first I was self conscious to do yoga out there but then while I was sitting in my chair relaxing I saw another woman on her balcony in a bikini sun bathing so I figured, “fuck it! if she’s doing that then I’m doing this!” I wish I knew her so I could say thanks, lol.

The ceiling of my closet is no longer puke brown! I’ve been putting off painting it, because it’s slanted (whose idea was it to put slanted ceilings in tiny places? 
) but it only took about an hour and now it’s done forever and I never have to paint it again!
