Tiny Victories

We got your snow yesterday. It wasn’t forecast. Rain today. So gray and gloomy outside.

Gentlecritters, I saved the client’s bacon, and they were actually genuinely grateful for it.

50 Day streak in Russian practice on Duolingo. I’ve never gotten a streak this long before. :astonished:

I was paralyzed with indecision about a secret Santa gift, trying not to spend too much. But a wish list item was books, so I just used the opportunity to throw money at Powell’s and consider it a supporting local business time. Fuck it. It’s nice to have it off my plate, even if I didn’t optimize the costs. And I think she’ll really appreciate what I picked.

I slept for many many hours. Many. Many hours of sleep.

Today’s homeschooling includes making cookies.
I’m sitting on the couch drinking coffee and the kids are bringing me bits of cookie dough to taste test.

At swimming tonight I timed it to get in the pool as fast as I could and stay in to the last possible second - I did 50 lengths in 48 min- I am the slowest swimmer in the world but could I actually be getting faster??

I’m proud of myself.:slightly_smiling_face:

I feel like utter shit, but my kid is in daycare and I have an attractive manservant a husband to bring me fresh cups of coffee and hankies while I work from home.

I’m feeling very smart today. My bank is closed (drive thru, atm, all of it) I’m assuming due to Covid cases and cleaning). Because I am an old, I was going to drive 14 miles to the next branch. BUT NO!!! I downloaded the bank app and deposited my check that way! Look at me joining the cool kids!

I made sourdough bread for Thanksgiving. It was the first time I’ve done a cold proof longer than overnight. Despite some sticking to the banneton, one of the two loaves was the most beautiful loaf I’ve ever made in my life as well as possibly the most delicious. (The other loaf was less beautiful and given to MIL; I assume it is equally as delicious.)

Ok this is not my own victory, but that of my best friend who is a midwife and just gave unexpected early birth (nothing dangerous but one week early and she’s been exactly two weeks post-due date for her other children - so she figured she’d have three more weeks) to her 3rd child before her birth team could get there. 52 seconds after her water broke. :flushed:
She did the whole thing by herself standing up in the shower. :exploding_head:
