I thought affogotto was whiskey and ice cream?

Google has a few definitions. I like the one with espresso.

I distinctly remember booze being involved when I had it. A text to Gramps later, I have confirmed that the affogato we had was vanilla gelato with espresso and fra angelico.

Not sure where whiskey came from in my head. Makes no sense for Italy.

The espresso and ice cream one sounds really good too. I wonder what it would be like with the dulce de leche ice cream I have in the freezer.

I have never heard of that. Around here, it’s always ice cream and espresso :woman_shrugging: Lots of ice cream shops sell it now here like salt and straw.

What’s salt and straw?

Local famous ice cream shop. On all the travel guides for Portland. Quite tasty. Always has lines that are a block plus long when it’s warm.

Oh, good. I was afraid it was an ice cream flavor, and it did not sound yummy at all.

They do some very experimental flavors. Honestly, an oat straw and finishing salt flavor would not shock me :joy:

On our walk today, we saw a short 2 person line at one of the local brunch places that I thought was closed for the duration (my neighbourhood is known for its brunch places and one often needs to wait 30-60 minutes if one wants to eat there on the weekend). It turns out that they had done some pre-orders for people celebrating today, and by the time we were walking by at 245, they were selling the last of their quiches and pastries for half price. Quite the score.

And now we have dinner, breakfast and lunch sorted out.

My partner bought me a MASSIVE Qdoba burrito for dinner last night. I ate the tortilla, plus about 1/2 of the filling, and there was enough filling left over for me to make another chonker of a burrito today :burrito: :burrito: :burrito:

You guys! I sent a fax to myself from the internet! Over my landline! To the fax modem in my laptop! This means I don’t have to set foot on the doctor’s office to get the letter that says I’m high risk and should never, ever do things like go in to the doctor’s office!

So tomorrow I’ll get them to fax the letter and maybe dig out my TRS-80 and play Pong to celebrate

I was out of the house for fun earlier, not groceries or other essential items. I supported three local businesses and got to enjoy being not-mom for my mother’s day gift to myself.

That’s the best gift. Today I was Not-Housekeeper. I didn’t cook or clean or organize. I did some light supervision and offered guidance, but generally other people loaded and ran the dishwasher, did chores, and got dinner on the table. I watched trashy tv, mostly.

I found the matching yarn for the cardigan that I ripped last week when the sleeve got caught by the screen door handle. It wasn’t in the space that most of my bits and bobs are, so I had thought I was going to need to try something and hide yarn with a different colour. It is a pretty slubby tweedy yarn, so I think the darn is going to be basically invisible unless a person looks for it, and even then it will mostly be noticed by feel.

SO 3D printed the missing plastic plugs for the bottom of the blinds we cleaned. I was very impressed when he showed them to me.

They have amazing flavors, with special flavors every month. A lot of new flavors each month actually, like five or six, plus the usual flavors which are still somewhat unusual. And they give you as many samples as you’d like! We used to go every month to try the new flavors. I miss that.

As part of my mother’s day requests I demanded that the kids watch a movie of my choosing instead of the customary Doctor Who episode at bedtime.

I made them watch Orlando, because children should be exposed to arty gender bending movies as much as possible.

Shockingly, one of them really enjoyed it.

I just noticed that King Arthur Flour has the 16 oz yeast back in stock if anyone needs some.
