Tiny Victories

This is one of my first sewing projects once I’m settled!

Not really a Tony Victor but something I’m very happy about: our local middle school has instructions on its sign for lunch pickup for kids and how families can get computer and internet access through the school. Some days I get so disappointed in my community, but not today.

We have been using cloth napkins since our wedding in 2015 (asked for them as gifts!) and before that I just used dish towels because I was too cheap to keep buying paper towels. It’s so great. They’re starting to show more stains and I should probably throw them all to soak in a bucket of bleach for a bit, but other than that they’re going strong!

Bonus is that whenever guests come over and I give them one 9 of 10 say “Oh wow, this is so fancy!” So they think it’s special treatment AND I don’t have to pay for something that directly becomes trash. I roll them up and keep them in a glass jar near where we eat and that keeps them contained, looking nice, and most importantly available.

Something I meant to put in Tiny Complaints but now don’t have to:

Since our school transitioned to entirely remote this week and for the foreseeable future, I was going to lose my student stipend. (This covers a large chunk of my living expenses.) Just found out it has been continued through the end of the calendar year! My money woes just went ** poof ** :grinning::upside_down_face::grinning:

Mummy’s big boy put himself to sleep for his nap in his crib after being set down semi asleep.

Now I can try and figure out where I got to in my taxes 7 weeks ago

I used my lunch break to go for a run. I timed it just right to miss the cold windy rainstorm that’s starting up.

We may get a washer/dryer today, after 9 months. My contractor told me that the sheetrock is done, and the electrician is here today. He’s going to help me pick them up. We might have shelter-in-place by tomorrow.

I get this too, and I think it is so hilarious. :joy:

I spent a half hour working on a project for my teaching certificate. I’ve been dreading/avoiding it for weeks, but am slowly making progress.

I filmed and edited a little cooking thingy for youtube!

Have not yet figured out how to post it, lol, but it’ll happen!

ETA: And by “filmed” I mean shot from one angle on a phone, lol.

Kids and I watched Les Mis while hemming curtains. I hate sewing so much. I got kind of smug when my terrible stitching was better than bigger kid’s.

I’m better than an inexperienced child at a simple but tedious skill!

I wore pants with a zipper and a button today.

Idk, sounds like a tiny complaint to me

Working from home and conference calls with no video to help the network means time for socks.

I wasn’t even pushing the limit - I only knit on team calls, not 1-1s.
