Tiny Victories

Tinynlunchbvictory: olive oil, lemon juice, nutritional yeast and the odd caper and oregano

Tiny victory… I was going to make a tiny complaint about whiny non compliant* patients, and then one of our patients had a GIANT leap in open mindedness towards compliance

  • I don’t actually care when adults dont comply with healthcare advice. That’s their right. BUT when you are non compliant including with every possible alternative, I am not paid well enough to listen to you whine. That’s probably a multi million a year job.

I’m reclassifying - mostly in my own mind, because changing it in YNAB is too much work - money I spend supporting Kid-4 in the “charity/giving” category. It’s really been weighing on me that I barely get into the black most months, and that because of that, the amount I end up giving to charity is laughably small. Really, really small, like sometimes under $5. Recently it occurred to me that it’s not because I’m not working hard enough or making good decisions or doing things right; it’s because I’m a low-income person supporting a WHOLE OTHER ADULT in a bit of a failure-to-launch situation right now. I don’t have to feel so guilty. It won’t be like this forever.

I feel like many of us need this as a tattoo.

I currently have a whole stash of candy in my freezer. I need someone else to eat it.

Just found a $10 medical bill refund check that fell out of an old notebook…from 2017. It’s not signed, so I somehow never bothered depositing it?

I checked myself for speaking over people today AND made others feel comfortable enough to tell each other off for speaking over each other.

It is now mid-December and I still haven’t turned on my heat. I’ve been solely using my gas fireplace to heat my 1 bedroom apartment. (It’s super cheap to run my fireplace.) This is my first winter without having pets to worry about, so this is one giant experiment. It was about 55 degrees in my house when I got home from work last night.

I’m unclear if I am doing this to save money or if I’m just playing the masochist Midwestern game of “Look how long I can go without turning on the heat!!”

Tiny victory? Mega stupidity? BOTH?!

HAHA.
This game is real.
But you’re a badass!

ETA: just don’t, like, get hypothermia or bust your pipes, okay?

The game is SO real.

What’s pipe bursting temps? It probably helps that I have neighbors below and beside me, who presumably have their heat turned out.

It was 65 degrees when I turned off the fireplace and went to bed.

I’d say 55 is the lowest you should let it go, personally. Being in a shared building definitely mitigates your risk.

I am pretty impressed with your fortitude! I am a total princess snowflake so my heat was on as soon as my house got down to 67. Also my air is turned on at 75. LOL

I have also always heard 55 as the lowest, unless your pipes are insulted with heat tape.

I only planned to cook one meal using fresh ingredients this week because there was a lot going on. I cooked that meal while all the veggies were still fresh! This week’s menu has been questionable nutritionally but at least we ate all our meals at home.

I have all the Christmas presents except 2. Also, I get to remove more paving next week!

Our study nook in the dining room is in the perfect place to catch the air-conditioning.

The snowflake has disappeared from my weather app for today! As has the rain icon!

This means two things:

  • We can comfortably take the complicated and circuitious public transport route to our evening plans!
  • I can wear my red glitter Doc Martens without fear of ruining them!

9 cups of curried cashews made for family gift giving. It will be a very big victory if we have enough to give out come Christmas day.
