Tiny Complaints

My boss was indeed wrong but she’s being gracious and happy to learn.

Plus it is an absurd system to learn.

Bonus kid’s secondary parent has been acting in unsafe ways lately so she can’t go see them. She is here most of the time, as a result. She is very very upset about this, understandably. Being almost ten, she has decided that if she behaves so badly that i kick her out she will get to go stay with the unsafe parent, since her mom has to work. She has been an absolute asshole for days. There are no alternatives to her coming here, because everyone everywhere has covid. Her mom and I are exhausted and not handling anything well.

Can we have a holiday from the pandemic, please?

Family drama involving homophobia against my kids. I just yelled at someone I love and got hung up on. It doesn’t feel tiny right now.

Husband had to go to (place) to pick up (thing) tonight for work. I was like “doesn’t (place) close at 5? Can you get in?” And he was dismissive and thought it was fine. And now he’s locked out and trying to get someone after hours. And I’m really frustrated he didn’t pay attention or whatever happened. He could have called them during business hours, when we had that discussion, to arrange after hours pickup of (thing).

Read through two of my new library books tonight…I like the writer and enjoyed the other books in the series well enough, especially as quick reads, but in both of these it appears that the protagonists decided to forget half the skills they had in those previous books in the name of dragging out murder ‘mysteries’ that weren’t mysterious for more than five minutes. And damned if I can figure out why they randomly spent two chapters quarreling and then promptly dropped the argument entirely in the last book either. The author is clearly dropping clues for the bigger mystery/reveal that he’s been setting up for since book one, but at this rate the books aren’t going to get there.

It’s icy out and SirB has a long drive. We’re supposed to have new tires on already, but Costco fucked up and somehow deleted our order entirely. After hours on the phone, we have the tires coming (for the sale price, tyvm), but they’re not on yet. Our current tires aren’t bald or anything yet, but I’d still feel a lot better if the new ones were on. :disappointed_relieved:

My chickens are having an adorable sunbathing cuddle pile but I can’t get a picture through the window because my phone always focuses on the screen window rather than past the screen to what’s outside

None of my extremities or major joints is working today. Every time I move it’s a fun guessing game about what part will hurt and what will work at all. I don’t want to live in this body.

Internet flaked out, but rebooting router and modem didn’t work. Turns out somehow the router had wiped itself back to factory settings. All this while one of my kids is crying because she lost connection in the middle of class.

I made a tasty dish providing 3+ days of lunches. The cookbook author suggests serving it over polenta, but I don’t have polenta, so I didn’t do that. Today while eating the lunch it occurred to me that cornbread would also have been a delicious option and now I’m sad that I don’t have cornbread. (TV, I can probably make cornbread tonight and have it ready for tomorrow’s lunch.)

I posted on Facebook asking for office chair recommendations. One person is insisting that I will never find a chair I like if I do not personally go to Office Depot/Max or Ikea (neither of which is accessible to me without getting in a car; Ikea is way way way out in the suburbs) and personally sit my butt in various chairs. Which, even without the car issue, is not a thing I feel like I should be doing given that officials are telling us to limit time inside buildings that are not our homes as much as possible.

Another person apparently works for a furniture company and is now actively selling to me.

I actually did this in the Before Times because my previous office chair broke. Every chair I sat on, regardless of price, was shit. Either they had no padding or they had the kind of padding that I could tell would be permanently quashed flat in a month or two. I hemmed and hawed about making an actual decision, then the pandemic happened, then I ordered a cheap purple one from walmart. I’m currently using that one plus a pillow for actual cushion.

I have a ridiculously expensive fancy chair at the office that has never been that comfortable for me. I quite like my husband’s desk chair he bought at IKEA and steal it from his office frequently. It is the Millberget in white.
I still need a pillow for my back because I am smol and don’t fit right otherwise.

Yeah, my boss told me that the ones we have at the office cost $600 and… I don’t think mine was that great?

Either my boss just sent an email threatening to revoke our PTO that was already approved around the holidays, or she’s incapable of writing an email without sounding threatening and scolding about something we haven’t actually done yet.

And the winky emoji at the end doesn’t help clarify.
