About a week or so ago I got a return request from an Amazon customer because her earrings took 6 days to get to her in California and she found that unacceptable.
Now today I get a complaint for her because when I put the return request through (but not the refund as the refund happens when she’s sent it back), apparently it generated a label that she has to pay for, not a label that I pay for. And I’m supposed to do the latter now, apparently?
So I went into Amazon help to figure out how to generate the label and the help pages say “this feature isn’t available in your country.” Really? In the US? (She’s US too, obvs.)
So I said fuck it and just refunded her her stupid 8 dollars. All this over an $8 pair of earrings. They’re tiny and take like 5 minutes to make, she can keep them, I don’t give a fuck at this point. And now I’m probably going to get a black mark on my account because I took too long to refund her or something. I hate amazon. I don’t even want to sell jewelry any more, I swear to god, I am so sick of people getting pissed because something didn’t arrive on time.
They were soooooooo good. I’m convinced that Red is somehow modeled on my husband except for the whole artist, tattoo bad boy thing. And the tragic backstory. Husband has his own tragic backstory. But is otherwise that exact type of perfect about my limitations and chronic issues.
I had an interview for a swim team that I applied to coach for, and I would be heading up the Winter program (which I know from experience will be way more than just the hours I spend on deck) and when they asked for my pay requirements I gave the top of the range because it was $15-$20 an hour which is…not a lot for a head swim coach. They were visibly annoyed by what I said. I have 7 years of coaching experience, plus a college degree in sports coaching, and 12 years of my own competitive experience. Is $20/hr really too much?!
Yeah, and if there wasn’t a range I probably would have asked for $25, but $20 is fine. $15 is what I made when I was 16 years old teaching swim lessons. I guess they don’t expect people to ask at the top of the range, but that’s what the range is there for! They were also looking for someone with 1 year of experience, so it felt appropriate that since I’m more than overqualified, I ask for the top they are willing to pay. Oh well, all you can do is ask, I guess.
No, it is not enough! Could you also get something like mileage or another compensation? What cheap bastards. A friend swam for the university swim club down there (in the 1990s) - she was a post-doc, so this was separate from the university team.
I’m not really sure. It’s a small neighborhood swim team, so I totally get it. I won’t spend my time (and a 30 min drive each way)for less money, but I understand if they want someone cheaper. I’d love to coach an adult team, that is more established (plus coaching adults is WAY easier than kids)…but it’s hard to find teams that are even swimming right now with Covid.
Our mortgage refi is progressing slowly because they’re busy and I really want them to hurry up because of our situation at work, but I can’t exactly tell them that I want them to hurry up because I’m worried about our jobs. People lending you money tend to not be keen on you losing your ability to pay them back.
(We’ll be fine. But I still want them to hurry the f up.)
