The post office is, unsurprisingly, way behind in deliveries. Two acquaintances who both live in Chicago bought stuff from me on Etsy after I announced that Boyfriend was laid off. One package is finally moving, according to tracking. The other, destined for 1 neighborhood away from me and containing 6 pairs of earrings, hasn’t even been scanned. Both of these should’ve arrived in 1 day, 2 max, and I mailed them on Wednesday.
I hope I don’t have to refund anyone, or replace items. At least one item in the unscanned package cannot be remade though (the charms are discontinued).
I hope that if people bought things from you to help you out after Boyfriend got laid off, they wouldn’t complain about waiting for mail during a pandemic
I hope not. Though I’m hearing from other sellers that some customers are Losing Their Shit over delays. People suck.
It does concern me that the 1 package doesn’t even have an arrival scan though. I always put my packages in the same mailbox. Always worked before. I mailed the possibly lost one at the same time as the one that’s moving. I suspect it’s just not getting scanned, but who knows.
I used the trick of signing up for email updates as the packages moves (or doesn’t). It’s amazing - 9 times out of 10 when I have a stuck or lost package, within a day of me signing up for the alerts it is found and starts moving. It’s like someone at USPS goes “oh shit! Someone’s paying attention! I guess we had better deliver this!” haha
I ordered a couch and mattress and was told they would be delivered today. The kids and I planned the day so there would be someone at the new house at all times to accept delivery.
Email update: new delivery date is April 27. WTF.
So I’m moving into the house on monday but won’t have a mattress to sleep on for 3 weeks. Fun!
Since we’re locked down I thought it was a good time to go thru my email inbox which is full of various to-do items. One of them was submitting the invoice from my last purchase of flea meds for the cats; I’m part of a rewards program where I get around $15 back for each purchase. It gets loaded onto a debit card that can only be used at the vet, which is fine because that offsets vet bills.
Discovered I was so late in submitting, I missed the deadline by 4 days. There’s $15 down the shitter. Hmph.
Ugh I am so sorry. Having to buy furniture right now is the worst. I am trying to order a bed to be delivered to my new apartment in two weeks, but most deliveries are out at least 4-5 weeks. I will be sleeping on my camping sleeping pad for a few weeks.
Lucky you, you have a bed frame! Haha. This whole owning no furniture thing seemed really cool until right now. I guess there are always air mattresses, right?
I made myself a way too strong margarita this afternoon. It was delicious. My tiny complaint is that my brain is now spinning and I can’t read the internet because words don’t make sense.
I checked out my kids’ rooms and they have packed nothing at all. Every time I’ve sent them off to get their rooms ready they’ve just farted around. We move on Monday. I don’t see how they will get their disasters into boxes by then.
Also the countertop place is closed for the quarantine, so there is no timeline whatsoever for things like countertops and a kitchen sink. Things that I really enjoy having. I can put plywood down as counters but having no sink is a real challenge.
I’m on three different meds and anxiety is still kicking their combined pharmaceutical asses. I just want horrible thoughts to stop running rampant in my brain and making me panic and cry, please.
For as long as I’ve known you I’ve had the urge to install you in my guest bedroom and feed you tasty things and let your life just be easy for a little while. When the pandemic ends can we do that?
