Tiny Complaints

My hair is also long and out of control. I had been putting off getting a haircut for months (because I’m cheap) and now I can’t get one at all. I’m not a cut-my-own-hair kind of person. I’ve tried a few times, and always had to be rescued. My hair is very curly in some places and almost straight/just borderline wavy in others.

My hair grows at different rates at different parts, is anywhere between wavy and very curly, and radically changes it’s curliness based on weight on it via product and length. Also normally very thick, but tons is falling out because of post partum hormones.

I’m so over it. It takes forever to dry. Gets so greasy. But if I cut it, I’ll look like a chia pet.

My jaw is clicking.

Oof I hate it when that happens.

…do other people’s jaws not always click?

They don’t! And they aren’t always in pain and other joints don’t always pop. I learned this in school when I was almost 30.

Etymonline is possibly my favorite online resource, full stop. We used to play with it soooo much when I was doing annotation work.

Also if anyone needs Etruscan resources I can dig some up from a friend. Also Hittite, Ancient Egyptian, etc. Many may be in dead tree form tho.

My shitty and stressful work from home week felt worthy of a big and long-winded complaint destined for my journal, then I realized it was a tiny complaint when my healthcare friend told me about her week. Perspective is everything.

I’ve spent +45 minutes trying to get distance learning and telehealth therapy set up on my kid’s ancient iPad. Distance learning was lower priority but is working fine. Telehealth therapy was the priority and refuses to work because the device is so ancient it only has iOS 7 and we need to have 11 at a minimum. Sigh.

I have an extra android device charging, if that doesn’t work we might have to use our phones which sucks for many reasons. Hmph. Or, heaven forfend, obtain a second (used) Apple device into our once-pure-Android household (Mr. Meer is not a fan but also has not spent any time dealing with kid’s technology, I really like how stuff can get locked down.)

There was a partial stinger in my local unfiltered honey.

Is your mouth okay?

Yeah, fortunately I picked it out before I ate it. But now I’m going to extra inspect it next time

Last fall, the management installed all new, insanely sensitive smoke detectors throughout the complex. Between the eight apartments in this building, there’s a detector going off three or four times every. single. day, beeping and yelling “FIRE!” Nobody pays any attention to them anymore, which seems…counterproductive.

I used 4x the amount of yeast in my focaccia than I was supposed to. Now my anxiety thinks I’ve made myself sick and yeast will upset everyone’s stomach and I’m just way, way too tired for this shit.

If you cooked the focaccia, the yeast are dead now. They’re a (minuscule)!protien boost in there, no more.

Thank you. My tired brain couldn’t put the facts and logic together.

I have bruises all over, source unknown. This usually means my body is gearing up to do something awful.

It’s supposed to be super cold and possibly frozen mix today. I have a delicate lil baby that doesn’t gain weight, so I don’t get to go outside for the forseeable future until it warms back up and the wind calms down. (TV though, got out yesterday)

Still super annoyed about the homemade mask thing. I have now seen at least 3 companies selling masks that are: bedazzled, crusted with glued on lace, screen printed, made of velvet, etc etc.

Am also now starting to see high and mighty posts from individuals berating people for not cutting up old clothes to make masks.

So many things wrong with this. So much stupid abounds. How TF do you breathe when your mask has fucking glue and glitter and paint and jewels all over it? Or when it’s goddamned velvet? And no, these aren’t people raising money for things. They’re selling them for profit. They’re completely ignoring the fact that in order to even be the smallest bit helpful there are certain parameters the mask should meet.

I know people want to feel like they’re doing something to help but this is just not the way. Our hospital system is putting out PR that they don’t want any homemade PPE but they’re being inundated with it nonetheless. I get that some places are asking for it and that’s great, I just wish people would use their brains and follow the requirements that have been asked for and stop trying to profit on fear and make money selling this stuff.
