Tiny Complaints

Luigi either completely ignores ours or goes batshit crazy over it. Now we just vacuum with him in another room.

I get no data or texting or other phone connectivity at the hospital. It is a problem.

Silver lining: I’m getting Little Women read.

Despite my paycheck coming through my retirement contributions are not showing up yet and I don’t do my monthly accounting until my contributions show up and usually they do that the day I get my paycheck but it’s not there yet!!! Razzumfrazzum…

My 401k administrator’s site will only let me contribute whole percentages of my paycheck. So I am unable to contribute $19500 and can only contribute $19200. This is costing me a whole like $100 in taxes per year!

Will they not auto stop contributions once you hit the max? My last paycheck last year was higher than usual by a few hundred bucks because they reduced my retirement contribution to stay at the limit. I never end up worrying about my overall number because I know the system will catch it.

I tried setting it to the next percentage up and it nope’d me. Stupid system.

OH wait no nevermind I tried again and it let me change it. Weird.

I was just hit on by an attractive man (I don’t even know if this is the right language…this never happens to me). This should be a tiny victory, but that is not how my anxiety brain views it, so now I’m taking an anti-anxiety pill and trying to calm down. BREATHE IN, BREATHE OUT.

Back to Tiny Complaint… she had to pass on it due to a severe cat allergy. There is nothing cat-free in our home.

@diapasoun, want to check and see if it might fit you?

Complaint: eBay keeps changing my Buy It Now fixed price listings to have Best Offer, when I don’t want them to. They are such assholes but it’s the best place to sell some of my stuff.

I have been assigned an annual project that I specifically advised I did not want to do. The reason being is that with the recent leadership transition they would rather give things to people who know them rather than letting someone new learn it. I guess it’s fine? But it’s not. But I understand the logic. F@!k.

Everything hurts when I walk, and I think I’m developing a new chest infection.

No…?
I asked her vet if that was something I would need to do and the vet said as long as she has enough scratching surfaces I don’t need to do it. Am I wrong? :::panics:::

She would literally let me do anything, so if it needs done I can do it

Trimming nails is something you do for the benefit of humans and their human furniture, not for the benefit of the cats  If I didn’t trim their nails my knees would be a wreck every time Girl Cat wanted lap time! The scratching surfaces actually help to keep their nails sharp!

I just use a claw clipper. When you press the front of the paw to make the nails pop out, you can see the quick-- that’s the pink bit in the nail. You don’t want to clip that far, it’ll hurt the cat and it might bleed. But you can easily clip off the sharp bit of the nail at the end. Once you get used to that, you can clip back more aggressively, maybe leaving 1mm to the quick.

I used to try to clip their nails over a trash can, but now I just do it over the rug and pick up the little bits afterward. You’ll want to do it when she’s nice and relaxed, and sometimes you may not get through all the nails before she’s just done. You can always just do a couple at a time. Also, the front claws will need clipping a lot more often than the back claws (see: scratching to sharpen), and sometimes some claws will get sharp before others. Sometimes if I feel something sharp, I’ll check all their claws and it might just be one or two that need clipping.

Good luck! It’s pretty lifechanging not to have sharp claws poking at you all the time and tearing up your stuff and your limbs!

I think something died in my basement while I was traveling. There is a terrible odor, but I can’t find the source. And my basement doesn’t have a door to close it off from upstairs, so now the whole house stinks a bit, too.

To add - some cats are super cool with you touching their feet and it is super easy. Some cats do not like feet touching. The Majestic Derp is super easy, he lets me touch and massage all his little toe beans on both front and back feet. The Little Ninja hates having her feet touched even a tiny bit and I kind of have to hold her down/lean/sit on her in order to clip her nails, and she hates it. Sometimes I can only get in a couple before I give up. But they are so razor sharp that I kind of have to do it. (It would be helpful if I could do the cat burrito roll, but I can never do it tight enough to make it work for nail trims.)

I just use big toenail clippers rotated so that they are lined up (in the same flat direction) as the claws, if that makes sense. (Can take a photo if that doesn’t make sense.) I don’t try to capture the nails, I just vacuum after wards.

My old vet used to have walk-in available if you wanted just nail trims, and it was fast and only like $10 or $12, so I always used to take Senior Cat there like once a month, because it was definitely worth it to get her in and out in 5 minutes and have all her nails done (and not by me, she also hated having her feet touched). But my current vet you have to make an appointment, which I guess is too much for me(?), and I think it is more money, so I do it myself now. It would be better if I could still do walk-ins, so you might just see if you vet offers that, if she hates it!

Annnnnnd her friend convinced her to take the coat and get it drycleaned to get the cat dander off. Originally she was too frugal to pay for cleaning it but she said she loves the coat and would wear it often!
