The elevator at work now has a sticker ‘why not take the stairs?’
I work on the 24th floor.

That’s why. Dear lord I thought I was a hero for walking up 5 flights…
Lol. It might be for people who take the elevator one floor. I worked in a place with 4 floors (and sometimes I took the stairs rather than wait) and SO MANY people took the elevator to the second floor in the mornings. Even better, many many people also took it DOWN one floor in the evenings. Like, it took longer to wait for the elevator that it would have to just walk it. Now, it’s possible that all these people had some health conditions or issues that made walking a flight of stairs impossible, I do not deny that. But I doubt it.
Could be rust. An ice maker at a former job acquired that problem. This was for lab ice though - not for drinking.
ETA: or a filter has blown. There is likely some filter in the line that hasn’t been changed since the Pleistocene.
My bananas are not ripe enough to bake banana bread this weekend.
Yep. Some people take the elevator from 24 to 22. But it would be a fairer argument if there haven’t been complaints for the past 6 months of people stuck in the stairwells because the card readers were on the fritz.
I once worked in an office building where the stairwells were for exiting only. You could get into the stairwell without setting off emergency alarms, but you couldn’t exit onto any floor but the ground. The other floor’s doors were locked, with no card access. So everyone had to use the elevators.
Wow. I almost always take the stairs but if I wanted to take the elevator, I would not be turned around once I was IN the elevator!
Freeze them and thaw them.
I have a bad headache and I still have to clean my house, because people are coming over this afternoon.
Like, overnight? This will hasten the ripening process? I like super brown bananas for banana bread!
I find that when I freeze them and they are a little brown they turn SUPER brown/black and thawing them gets that super ripe texture & Sweetness.
A person who reports to me just got a bunch of very negative feedback for a team thing she led, and I’m trying to decide if this means I need to be spending more time with her instead of giving her the trust and space to figure things out and waiting for her to ask me when she needs help.
It’s hard, because in other jobs I’ve been told I don’t give enough autonomy (because I don’t trust if there isn’t a demonstrated history of performance). And also, it means I don’t have as much time to work on other initiatives I’m supposed to be doing. And she wants more responsibility…
It’s forty degrees here. I hate this. My strawberries are getting burnt.
Also SOMEBODY didn’t buy any lollies at the shops this morning, and this is very sad because I need lollies. (That somebody is me.)
Seconding the too hot temperatures here, gross. Would much prefer snow right now…
The cat won’t get anywhere near the new cat tree I bought him. He just sits on the TV stand across from it and stares at it apprehensively, or ignores it altogether.
Sick. In hotel room at conference many miles from home. At least my poster’s done, but it’s 34 hours until I chair a panel and I’m pretty sure I have no voice at all, plus coughing my head off. I would whine about it, but it hurts.
It’s not even 5am, I’m not asleep despite the fact that neither the alarm nor the cat have gone off, and somehow I’m awake/alert enough that I can’t see myself nodding off again before I’m supposed to leave for the mountains at 6. The cat also disapproves (although possibly he disapproves more of the flash on the camera)
Airbnb made my listing invisible to searchers. Obviously this has affected bookings. I’m dealing with it now but it should never have happened.
Terrible roommate left the back gate open when he was moving out last night. Sprocket left the yard and went on an adventure.
Ugh and
