Tiny Complaints

Really really loud missing person alert on our phones.

AT 6:12 AM

I’m sorry for what seems like a kidnapping of a disabled teen but that was really unnecessarily loud at that hour. I thought it was the fire alarm at first.

You can disable those things, but it takes a whole lot of of digging through the settings. I had to Google it. But I did after one at 2:00 a.m. for a city 3 hours away.

I would just want to make sure I can disable it just for missing persons and not for severe weather where you gotta go hide in a closet asap (since we don’t have basements here)

Definitely agree. We need to go into the man cave when the tornadoes approach here. There was a way to do it, but I can’t remember it now; been several years since I did. But we get weather alerts and not missing persons alerts, so it’s possible.

Thanks, I will look this up.

We truly can’t have nice things, huh

Two lil complaints for today.

  1. I did this to myself. For the third time since I’ve lived in my house, our whole road is getting torn up so that they can work on the natural gas piping under the street. Every time it has happened it has been me that called because I smelled gas & they found big leaks. It’s good, but… the street…
  2. I’ve been using a bidet and cloth toilet paper for probably six years now and today for the very first time ever I accidentally threw my cloth in the toilet and had to fish it out :scream:

I bought a merino sweater dress, asked about smells and the seller said she’s sensitive and does not note any scents. They only use unscented detergent.

The dress arrived heavily scented, with a “free gift” car air freshener!! What the hell?!?! I told her, don’t include an air freshener in your packages, especially not for someone who asked about scents!! The dress is hanging outside for a few days and if it doesn’t come out, it’s getting a vinegar soak. But seriously, what the hell. I never ever want any random shitty “free gifts” when I buy things.

omg this happened to me once too! I bought second hand clothing and she sent it with a “free gift” of scent beads and the package gave me an immediate headache. Why would people do that!! Especially if you’d already asked about scents!!!

Luckily in my case the smell came out after I washed it. Hopefully yours will too. Honestly, if it doesn’t, return it.

That is so insane

Because they are lying about smoking, or pets, or other stinky habits or smells in their home. They are trying to cover up some other smell.

Seems Facebook and Messenger are down according to Reddit and a couple of friends?
Interestingly, downdetector won’t even load the Facebook information.

Ugh she advertised a “free gift” in the listing and I forgot to tell her no free gift, I guess she wasn’t thinking and just included it. The initial message I sent her was nice, the second one much more frustrated. She had even checked the dress for scents before shipping, and it totally absorbed all the smells from the air freshener (which didn’t even smell by the time it got here)! She offered for me to return it but I actually want this dress. I used to have it in a size down and it was too tight, and now after like two years I found this one in nice condition for a great deal and it fits! I’m going to let it sit in the sun for a few days and see if it helps. I’m sure I can mostly get the smell out with some work, it was just so preventable and I don’t want that chemical shit in my house.

Well, for her mistake she gets to get frustrated messages from me  I did tell her I won’t leave her bad feedback though, I just want this practice of “free gifts” to stop.

Ugh I told her I wanted this practice of free gifts to stop, and that sometimes I get a useless trinket and throw it out and feel bad.

Her reply: You can do whatever you want with the gift. Doesn’t matter to me. It was simply a gesture of Thankfulness for your purchase on my behalf. I’ll refund you another 22% and hopefully this will put the issue to bed. I do appreciate your positive feedback. I work hard to please everyone. Have a nice weekend!

So I sent her another message telling her that I hate being put in the position of throwing away a new item and that the free gift is actually of negative value to me. I stand firm on no free gifts! Unless it’s something I get to choose and that I want. How many people are much happier with their purchase because they received a cheap paper car air freshener?? Vs the number that are extremely unhappy because their clothes now have a toxic scent? (I didn’t say this last part)

Well, hopefully the smell comes out. It’s a great dress.

I got a sincere apology and hopefully a bit of consideration on her end about whether she’ll continue to offer free gifts in the future. It sounded like she was resistant to changing her policy of sending bonus stinky trash but I got to say my piece.

Hahaha, she suggested that I could donate the gift to a thrift store and someone would love it. A $2 cardboard car air freshener, what a treasure!!

Well, I have less than no use for a car air freshener, but I always appreciate stickers or a little stitch marker… so maybe just less smelly stuff. Lol
