Lol indeed. But I have gotten some help from grandparents. Not by myself constantly.
A door has been broken in my house for awhile, and troubleshooting + consulting handy family members have said that the only solution is to replace it. It’s a $1K door. I found a handyman who said he could fix it, he fixed it halfway, and now he has ghosted me (ghosting does seem unrelated to broken door, I think he’s just prioritizing big projects over my unending small projects). Now I must either find a new handy person or buy a new door
I forgot that literally anything I bring up at a well-child visit that isn’t in the official well-child visit script gets billed separately, and then I owe money for what I expected to be a free checkup for my kid.
When asked about other concerns, I brought up a plantar wart, and the Dr. offered to scrape it down so the salicylic acid treatment we were doing at home would work better. It took maybe 2 minutes, and they charged my insurance $180 for it. So now I owe $67.50, which isn’t the end of the world, but I wish they’d remind me when things aren’t covered. I could have done it at home, less effectively but also for $0.
Andrea Gibson died today.
WOW can I send you some doordash credit @a_hardie ???

I love summer but I’m so tired of being sweaty and we’re just starting a new heat wave tomorrow.
tv: my brother is coming to install the portable AC units today.
TV Update:
I messaged the office to see exactly what the charge was for, so I know to avoid it in the future. Our pediatrician saw it and said billing added it based on his notes. He said he usually only adds another code to well-child visits if there’s a really in-depth conversation or prescribes a new medicine, so he’s going to have them remove it!
I see nice things here to buy for people, but things are sometimes 30 kroner ($6-7, like a single shot of espresso) often 100k (an order of fries, $22) so basically no one is getting souvenirs (or postcards at 2/40k - trying to figure out how to mail the cool public message ones that are either free or we’ve been stealing).
And even if I can afford something then chaos kids mean I cannot bring it to the till and purchase it. LEGO is cheaper here though. And I eventually managed to order a bike seat. I just feel awful not bringing anything back to some of the people we love. Also feel awful for desiring stuff like food. (Which we obviously still buy)
Can you take photos of the postcards and then print them when you get home?
Or just take photos of things that delight/interest you and text them to friends?
Maybe the souvenir is some food you tried and really liked so you get a recipe and make it for folks once you are home?
Your people will not love you any less for the lack of a souvenir, I promise.
that is sweet Noodle! But we’re good. Husband comes home tonight and today, she DID NAP thank goodness.

Your people will not love you any less for the lack of a souvenir, I promise.
Does this apply to preteen and toddler/preschool nieces? As a former and current drama llama I think not
They get interesting candy. It’s all they really want.
$30 candy grump grump grump
I have one top eyelash that keeps sticking to my bottom eyelashes every time I blink.
Man I hate that! That creates a mission I must finish before I can do anything else “Operation eyelash”
I have tried like 4 times already. It seems to be fixed and then it goes back to sticking and I am crazy again
People on a story podcast Discord I’m on keep posting story related stuff on the general channel instead of any of the spoilers channels. C’mon, people! There’s space for those thoughts, be thoughtful for people who might not be as caught up!
TC#2: Mr. Meer wants to watch TV together in the evenings but somehow doesn’t seem to register that our kid cannot have a closed door between us and him while he’s falling asleep, and how long it takes him to fall asleep is an utter crap shoot.
