Tiny Complaints

It is my turn to be off duty and G started cleaning up and making me kashmiri chai (instant, recommend as sub for hot chocolate, refuse to believe it is the cause of my pimples)

And one feral child got ready for the park on his own.

They aren’t going to let young, healthy people get a covid booster this fall without a six month trial against placebo first? What??

This is going to be more and more common…

Of course by then the booster will be useless

This is not tiny

I think I’ve probably made this same tiny complaint before but it enrages me that Google Maps doesn’t let you choose a currency to see hotel prices in. Just let me choose!!!

Branching off the TV thread, I regret to report that the new horchata Starbucks flavor doesn’t really taste like anything. Waste of $6. (AND it’s the reason I’m not getting my beloved white chocolate macadamia flavor so it’s extra irritating it isn’t good.)

I am freaking the fuck out over this.

In fairness I think most people are gonna be able to cite some kind of health condition to get the earlier version covered, or just get it and pay out of pocket. But it’s truly so dumb.

This is one of the ‘stupid problems require stupid solutions’ situations, and also one of the ones where I have zero problems lying and citing whatever the doctor suggests (admittedly I’m in a place where the doctor will absolutely suggest) as a reason to get the vaccine right along with flu and whatever else makes sense.

ETA–and the actual tiny complaint I came to make, sciatica and the fact that the first painkiller the doctor gave me actually made things worse (turns out I get the ‘muscle tightening and spasms’ side effect) so I got a trip to the emergency room for steroids this weekend instead of the dive class I was supposed to be in. At least it’s starting to clear…

Coworkers who send you a Teams message with a question that requires more than a few minutes of work to answer, and simultaneously call you, while you are in a meeting…and when you don’t answer, send multiple follow up messages, even though it’s been less than 60 sec total

Fuck off mate! Not said out loud or typed - obviously, at least until you get home

Oh hell no

What’s wild is every time this happens I say "Hey, I got your message and it takes me more than a few minutes to search and find the information you need. I’ll follow up when I have information for you, no need to follow up multiple times!

And they respond “ok thanks!”

And then it happens again, and again, multiple times a week…

Can you switch Teams to “do not disturb “ when you are in a meeting? Or block contact somehow?

I would stop explaining to them (they don’t care / aren’t listening) and get back to them when you can.

Probably not realistic, but I’d be really tempted to hold off on your answer for 5-10 minutes for every ping and then point that out in the reply, ex. “I’d have gotten this to you earlier, but every time I get a message I have to context switch and it causes a delay”

Petty - I like it.

Sadly all manner of petty seems lost on this person. She does this to everyone, and we all kind of deal in our own way because she does a very specific job that no one else wants to do, and she’s close to retirement age. Some days I just let it get to me more than others :joy:
