Tiny Complaints

Warbreaker was his first one I ever read and I loved it so much.

Just showered. And for some reason. One armpit still has BO. JUST ONE. Why.

I also had one stinky armpit and after a while I realized one side produces more sweat than the other!

But no more stink since I changed to crystal deodorant. I use diluted vodka spray to moisten my pits and use the crystal!

Have you experimented to see if just spraying the vodka is enough? I’d wanna know for science lol

Spraying vodka is better than nothing but the crystal really kills the bacteria, or maybe makes it very inhospitable for them. I used to use vodka spray and now I use both. Actually I was wetting the crystal with water before but someone on one of the wool groups said they used vodka spray, and since I had the bottle already I’ve been doing that and am very happy with the outcome!

My issue is with some clothes that seem to have permanent stank in the pits, still trying to figure out how to totally get rid of it. Have been trying to rub the crystal on it. I have one stinky side and the other pit is fine haha.

Did you try vodka spray on the clothes? I’m vaguely remembering vodka is what theater departments often use on costumes.

Yep! It helps but if the stink is deep in there, it doesn’t take it all out.

I had to deal with this at one point, I don’t remember what specifically worked but cleaning things I’ve tried over time:

  • We have Spray N Wash type spray, that did not get the job done 100%
  • Rub detergent directly on the stinky spot and let it sit in the sun for an hour or so (basically two tactics at once so I only waited one hour instead of two or more)
  • Soak in vinegar for a while before washing. I might have put baking soda paste on it first?
  • Dawn soap rubbed on the spot, let sit, rinse to keep the washer from getting too sudsy, then wash in a load with other stuff.

Warning, talk of spiders/nightmare fuel probably for some people. :rotating_light::spider:

Ya know how insulated/blackout curtains have two layers? Well, sometimes spiders, apparently, can lay eggs between the layers and then baby spiders will come spilling out of the grommets at the top and you will suddenly have a curtain that is partially covered in baby spiders that you have to carefully walk out your back door and into the outside/yard.

I did not spill any spiders in the house and the curtain is successfully outside. :grimacing::sweat_smile:

This sounds like a horror movie :grimacing:

It’s time to sew the two layers together, and cover the edge of everything with some fabric tape. No no nonononono to curtain spiders.

What kind of spiders, though?

Friend I can not even see a gap anywhere. I’m guessing she got in between stitches, which is kinda not something I can prevent.

Unclear of a solution for the time being. Curtain remains outside, they seem to have evacuated the curtain and I hope they thrive somewhere else, they’re very cute and mean no harm.
It’s going to storm in a few minutes so I guess I’ll just leave it out overnight to pre wash the egg sac remnants? This is a debacle, that’s for sure.

Would the curtain fit in the freezer?

You know what, the argument to wash curtains regularly for allergens has never spurred me to action. But I think this finally is gonna get me to get off my butt and start cleaning my curtains regularly. :smiling_face_with_tear:

I just “yelled” at someone via text and I don’t feel great about it.

By yelled I mean they’re supposed to be doing a very disruptive job that involves digging up by backyard and they have failed twice to get a ticket in with 811, as evidenced when I called 811 myself this morning and they didn’t have anything on record. I was able to create a new ticket myself and forwarded it to the guy but the “yelling” part was “Whoever on your end is submitting the 811 tickets needs to do better follow up”. (I don’t think it’s the guy I’m texting but a coworker of his.)

All this for a job that was originally supposed to happen at the end of April or maybe the first couple days of May and I’ve been telling him from the very beginning (February?) that we want this done ASAP.

Oh and there’s literally no other company I can go with. There was one other tiny company who came out to look and then they all caught covid and seemed to develop long covid so they regretfully had to turn down my job which is the only reason I’m talking to the current company (they were originally my second choice).

FWIW this doesn’t sound like yelling. It sounds like directly approaching a conflict and asking someone to step up and do the work they agreed to do!

Logically I know this, but bleh. Thanks for the reinforcement.
