It’s all about the hosing down, IMO.
Before, and progress. The unfucking so far has consisted entirely of shoving all the puzzles into a precarious pile in the armoire and closing the door, but it’s better than before! I also put one puzzle near the door, because I keep forgetting to return it.
I am unfucking our kitchen. The pantry was a source of stress for 2.5 years and now it functions as a pantry should. There is occasional minor checking and chucking but it has functioned properly for a few months now.
The kitchen bench is clear more often as my energy improves. The current sticking point is:
- What should live on the bench?
- Where do things go in the non-pantry cupboards?
- Should we throw out some stuff?
These are fun questions.
While doing research for the kitchen, I discovered that my contractor had put our bathroom reno in his portfolio. (Which is fine, I gave him permission to take the photos.) Which pointed out to me how much more dingy our bathroom is now. So I cleaned all the baseboards. And the shadowy one has agreed to paint the door interior.
In the kitchen I realized that the backsplash / lip of the laminate countertop was also grungy because it doesn’t get wiped down, so I started going at it with some spray and a jcloth. But then switched over to the magic eraser because the spray was getting to my hands.
Once I finished that, I started pulling out cards for some notes I want to send this week, and I noticed there were grungy fingerprints on the drawer front. So I cleaned all the cupboards in the kitchen with the Mr Clean eraser that has been under the sink for a very large number of years.
It is a small set of things, but it feels very nice to have all that stuff off.
Sometimes the small finishing touches really make such a difference!
Vacuumed and cleaned both bathrooms yesterday while Human made dinner. Today I’m like “someone cleaned the bathrooms ahhh”
I went to tidy the kitchen before baking some muffins and decided to deal with the backlog of reusable ziplocks that needed washed. Ended up also discovering our fume hood was nasty with sticky gunk so I wiped it off (Took 5 min, honestly. The secret: 90-99% isopropanol.)
But, the big project of the day… Move The Suitcase. Why are silly things sometimes so Difficult!?
Update : 20 mins later, have not moved the suitcase.
We did an unf*cking! Replaced the many years old, ugly, creaky bed frame in the spare room with a new minimalist one.
dude the window to the outside looks like a picture frame. Why do I not live in Australia again?
The Table got cleaned off enough it could be deeply scoured, which is important since Latte is mainly eating at it in a booster seat rather than her high chair these days. Tea on the table is still hot. It’s like, ALMOST a clear table.
This baby is interested in moving around. This baby is also interested in pulling things down, shoving things in his mouth, etc. Our first baby for the most part did not do these things, also we live in a one bedroom apartment with almost no furniture when she was this age. Looking around our house, the whole place is fucked when assessing it as suitable for a baby that can move
Its SOOO green at the moment with summer rain recently and sunny days.
Gratuitous backyard grass shot:
Mowing grass counts as unf*cking right?
Yes. That is beautiful
It’ll all be brown soon enough.
Good point
I prefer the first picture. The second lacks cute toddler and dogs.
Don’t worry - they weren’t minimalised or unf*cked.
Can I make it up to you with this photo of a toddler helping build the bed?
YES. Yes you can.
Do it! Move the suitcase!
Haha I did!
