The Unf*ck It Thread

Tubshroom works! But I have to clean it like every shower and the silicone ones grow nasty black crud  so splurge on the metal one.

The bad: something went moldy in the vegetable drawer and I had to throw out a bunch of vegetables.

The good: the vegetable drawer is now cleeeeean.

It took an extra weekend because hormone moods, but…

Next project:

Gross mildew

It is calcifications/hard water stains mixed with mildew…I have tried scrubbing with Barkeeps Friend and citric acid with little effect. Maybe it needs to sit? I don’t think I want to use stronger acids on apartment aluminum…

All right, TV stand done and library books relocated from random spots around house (yes, I did move some of the stuff up and down as I was rigging up a holder for the center bracket that holds the television, although some of it is also screwdrivers, clamps/flashlights/etc…)

I’m unfucking our study bookshelves this week. I’ve gotten through a pile of magazines and have pulled them from their hideyholes amongst actual reference books. I will be hunting through the loungeroom bookcase for reference books hiding in there once I have some space in this bookcase.

It is beautiful! Thank you for these before and afters, they are my porn.

Also I am very very jealous of that puzzle space!

The left cabinet and dining set were my maternal grandmother’s. The cabinet contents are mostly from my grandmother and mother. The right cabinet was my paternal grandmother’s. The dolls inside, and a few other things there, were hers.

Thank you. I’m done with classes for a while, so school space can become puzzle space. I’m excited!

I am very, very limited in what physical activity I can do for the next 12 weeks, so I’m trying to un :duck: the paper in our study. There is so very, very much. I need to make sure that we develop a habit to go through our own and family papers once a week, and also that the gigantic backlog is dealt with. I’m continuing to remove magazines and collate our reference books. There is soooo muuuuuuuch. I’m holding onto the fantasy that if I get it all collated and remove the rubbish at the same time, it will all seem reasonable once I’m done… This stuff has been an issue since we moved in together a decade ago, and really that’s our whole adult lives.

I have a shredder and a pile of things to shred. I don’t have enough space to set up the shredder. Guess that’s today’s goal.

MIL, Duckling and I went through his clothing drawers and took out the too small stuff. He likes being able to find his own clothes now.

Winning at this. We can now find the clothes for Pumpkin, in appropriate sizes.

Cleared off my giant dining room table that we keep off to the side of the room because a toddler runs our household lol. It now just has a couple things that help to access (baby socks/hat/etc), and I have room to do a puzzle. Space in the house that the baby can’t reach is rare and precious lol.

This is a big deal. I wish I had done this in anticipation of meowlet. Another thing I thought would be fine.

:open_mouth: This was your original goal and you did it! Good job. Honestly all of our space is always in some level of shit show and I am so tired of my family judging me for it.

Haha no the original goal was the little family room/kitchen table in the main living area. It’s hopeless I’ve decided. Too much stuff gets set there by virtue of keeping it away from the baby, and daily logistics. It currently contains;

Silicone ice cube tray Latte set there. She’s pulling it back off as I type this.
Two bibs
My mask
Window clings of wild animals that need put up
Husbands kindle
A dish towel
Two wall anchors that came with a basket in the mail that I haven’t stored in the garage
4 receipts, two bills, and a couple pieces of junk mail
A dish towel
A set of baby socks the baby put on the table (I can always tell her contributions since they’re right on the edge of the table lol)

Oh and my LIFESAVING coffee.

But I can never put things away while she’s awake because she wants to Help, and Toddler Help with paperwork results in shredded and missing paper, and empty cupboards lol.

I did clear it once during this thread, but it quickly returned to its native state of chaos.
