What could doping help figure skaters with??
I’m fairly ignorant about sports medicine or medicine in general but my mental picture of doping are the baseball players with huge muscles.

Performance Anxiety, recovery time, quicker healing, weight loss.
Word on the street right now is that it was not performance enhancing, but a lot of things on the drug list are masking agents. It was a test that was taken in December, not at the Olympics that is in question, apparently.
Could also be improperly filed forms about allowed medications, you still have to report everything you take. And as we learned in the summer olympics, could just be someone smoked some weed…
hormone suppression so that your tiny little girl doesn’t grow up at an inconvenient time when the jump technique is based on being tiny tiny tiny?
obig national pride: first quad kings were Canadian - Kurt Browning (first in competition in '88) and Elvis Stojko (first quad-double combination in '91, quad-triple in '97)
I think Goebel is called that because he wasn’t known to do anything else…
Browning and Stojko were damn good all around performers.
I think Browning & Stojko are why I can’t watch Olympics (along with Sasha, Tara…)
Commentators are the worst…
Half the time I watch skating on a weird websites that people post with eastern european or asian language commentary, so I just ignore them, and that’s better.
oh, it isn’t their commentary. It’s having lived through being emotionally invested in certain people winning at the olympics, having followed for several years and having opinions. And then the wrong person wins most of the time.
It’s apparently Kamila and it was heart drug. Not even recommended for people under 18. Banned in competition. And she is a literal child (15 y/o) and it seems like her coaches may have given it to her unknowningly. There have been accusations against her coach (eteri) of doping by another teenager skater that then were retracted
I am heartbroken. She is a child. And a true talent. And they’re ruining her career forever with this. She’ll probably lose her euros title as well, and the whole Russian team gold will lose theirs. I wanted mark to get that medal. He’s been tired out by the team competition before today’s free skate for nothing.
Fuck. I didn’t want a Russian sweep for ladies but i didn’t want it to happen this way.
I feel so badly for her too, she would be like a freshman in high school- that’s a KID.
But I also don’t believe that the other Russian women aren’t taking the same thing. Their team doctor has been known to have ties to doping. The Russian state is at the cutting edge of doping, beyond any other federation in the world. They likely use microdoses to prevent it from showing up. The others just didn’t have theirs show up, IMO.
It’s impossible for me to believe anyone in ROC is clean. Not because of the athletes, because of the Olympic Federation’s doping programs that made them compete as ROC in the first place.
(Also- if the Russian’s lose their medal, I feel so bad for Keegan Messing, whose covid trouble kept him from the team event, and now he won’t get a medal. But yay for Roman?)
I don’t believe the other Russians ladies are clean and I absolutely don’t believe it is their fault. They are all fucking children.
Eteri fucks up their backs permanently before they are even adults and now her team is causing huge issues for an actual teenager.
I’m heartbroken for Kamila
Oh shit. Roman has had such a rough time this Olympics that I would like that for him. Not sure he would feel he deserved it.
I think having Roman do the free in the team comp on short notice was a mistake.
Did Canada have another option? I thought Keegan still wasn’t there.
I don’t think they did but I still don’t like it
My heart can’t handle this final group
Nice skate!
All in all, very impressed with all the top 6. disappointed that hanyu is off the podium, but he wanted to try the 4A even though he knew it might very well cause him to lose a medal.
Happy with the podium and not at all surprised. Yuma is spectacular.
Some of the scenarios for the team gold
Vox is not here to play. they cover a lot of the issues with TT/Eteri
