True….checking in with anecdotal evidence. My luteal phase never got above 11 days (averaged 9 I believe), but I got pregnant twice.
More anecdotal evidence: my luteal phase is 9-11 days and I have very few eggs left (which could imply poor egg quality but that’s not quite as clear) and I got pregnant unassisted. I have very low progesterone which could contribute to the short luteal phase and I had to supplement during the first trimester in order to stop bleeding. I wish I had been supplementing throughout the luteal phase. So if it turns out that you have a consistently short luteal phase you might talk to your doctor about progesterone testing and supplementing.
Does anyone know what it means if your luteal phase gets shorter but is still “normal”? I have had temp dips during this luteal phase, spotting since day 11, and now I think I am getting my period on day 14 instead of 17/18. Low progesterone?
It seems like my AMH is too high for this to be perimenopause and I know they will check my levels during a transfer… just curious, I guess.
More than anything, I would wonder why your LP was longer than average to start
No one seemed to think it was important! Even though it wasn’t like that when I used to chart back when I was trying to make BB through when LB was a baby. The temp dips are weird–like, all the way back down to pre-ovulation levels–but I’m not sure I trust the TempDrop.
At least since you’ll be doing a transfer it doesn’t really matter?
Definitely doesn’t solve the curiosity side, but at least it shouldn’t impact treatment at all.
(Although something I read just said long LP can be associated with PCOS- you have a good AMH right? Any other PCOS indicators?)
Not lately. When I was going off HBC in like 2010 I had a pretty noticeable mustache for a while and didn’t ovulate for 10 months.
It really shouldn’t even affect my ability to do a natural transfer since I’m still ovulating on the reg but it’s weeeeird and I like answers.
TMI involving a sex dream
I… had a sex dream about our known donor?! Taking this as a good sign. We haven’t started trying yet.
My at home fertility test has been sent in and received at the lab. I should get results in a few days. I’m super curious what the test will show.
Heyooooooo. Cycle 6
Fertility clinic zoom call on Wednesday.
Sad hugs
Got my results back. Looks like Egg reserve is slightly low for my age “Your ovarian reserve is slightly low based on your AMH, and your eggs are likely lower quality.” This is a rather upsetting sentence!
TSH is something I should look into more. They said everything else looks normal.
For those interested in numbers or have any input.
The numbers
AMH - Slightly Low - 0.69 ng/mL
TSH - Normal - 2.95 uIU/mL
FSH - Normal - 8.76 mIU/mL
E2 - Normal - 51.4 pg/mL
PRL - Normal - 9.62 ng/mL
LH - Normal - 4.83 mIU/mL
That is unfortunately low
not zero by any means! But low reserve is the only problem they’ve ever been able to find with me, and mine was 0.83 ng/mL when I started at my clinic I did IVF with. You’ll probably want to triangulate your reserve- antral follicle count (via ultrasound) is also important to know. Your FSH is mildly elevated, but below 10 is considered good, so that shouldn’t be an impediment to conception or fertility treatments. Your estrogen is also reasonable- that’s important to look at because a high estrogen can artificially lower your FSH. That’s what was happening to me. I had the same FSH as you, 8. something, but my estrogen was pretty high, so in reality my FSH was probably higher.
Your TSH is high for trying to conceive though. Depending on the source, I’ve seen below either 2.5 or two for when you are trying to conceive. Definitely worth pursuing.
thanks, I was hoping you would weight in
I’m kind of glad there seems to be something off. I can now look into these areas and see what can be done.
Complaining for a moment about TTC "without access to sperm at home"
We decided to start trying to actively make this happen in January or February, and have been going to the fertility doctor, etc. since March. It’s been almost four months, and probably four of my cycles. If we weren’t in a two cis lady relationship, even if I wouldn’t have become pregnant by now, at least we would have more info that it wasn’t taking yet. I hate hate hate how slowly this is moving.
For low reserve, it seems there’s basically 3 routes:
-no or lower intervention (ex IUI)
-varying degrees of alternative approaches, from pretty scientific but not super mainstream (It Starts with the Egg) to more complementary medicine (Aimée Raupp’s books for example).
-higher intervention right off, like IVF, to “race the clock” as it were.
We went straight to IVF, but that was heavily informed by our desire for more than 1 child, so we wanted to bank embryos.
Oh and other considerations- low Vit D will lower AMH. Worth getting your levels checked. AFAIK having a high TSH won’t give an artificially low AMH; but I don’t know for sure.
Ugh if Vit D has any play in all this I’m screwed. My levels are always low. I live in NE and the sun hates me. I really should be better about taking my vitamins
Oh I wonder if that’s why I’ve only conceived in summer months!
I was critically low (11) when I was first tested. I had to supplement so high for so long to get it adequate (32), but it wasn’t until I added Vitamin K2 drops that I got it to a good level for fertility (63). Magnesium is the other one I’ve heard for supplement resistant low vitamin D.
I think mine was like 14 last time I had it checked years ago.
